HE
Or Hornswaggle, it's always Hornswaggle.
Hopefully the answer is nobody, I wouldn't mind Barrett or Regal though.
Seeing as they leave the camera behind at the end of their promos there's a good chance somebody is behind it or WWE would never get the footage (wrestling logic dictates they can't hire a member of the public to do it for them).

It's not the first time someone's taken lumps from a faction as a feint in order to conceal the fact they're involved with them.
I think the Shield isn't Punk's faction, they're Cena's. Shield takes out Ryback, Cena's only competition in line for Punk.
I guarantee they go after Rock, too.
This is just me stroking my smarkboner in an attempt at reaching the goal of turning Cena heel.
Otherwise, it's Heyman without Punk's knowledge, which sets the tone for his eventual face turn.

It will never be explained, or it will have some sort of cop-out conclusion when they reveal that HHH is behind it all and CM Punk says "they did it for the Punk, they did it for da peepol-AAH SHUT UP YEAH BOSSMAN IMPERSONATING FATTIES"

MMA JARRETT IS TIRED OF THE INJUSTICE!!! I've literally never watched TNA, and that picture of MMA-geared, country music superstar Jeff Jarrett made me legitimately laugh out loud. What was the story behind this?!

Otherwise, it's Heyman without Punk's knowledge, which sets the tone for his eventual face turn. I was considering this too. It'd be an interesting way to end Wrestlemania. Cena/Rock rematch at mania, shield gets involved allowing Cena to win. Cena celebrates with them etc. Decent opportunity to turn Cena heel, if they wanted to actually go through with it. It would certainly drum up interest. Normally a sour note to end mania for most fans but it'd work in this case.

The Rock so he could ensure he faced Punk at the Rumble.
Then they went rouge.

MMA JARRETT IS TIRED OF THE INJUSTICE!!! I've literally never watched TNA, and that picture of MMA-geared, country music superstar Jeff Jarrett made me legitimately laugh out loud. What was the story behind this?! Jeff Jarrett was feuding with Kurt Angle and start to brag he was a MMA master. He would challenge people out of the crowd to spar with him to piss off Angle. It also lead to this great moment:

Also consider Amborse saying "The Shield brings the sword" well Brock Lesnar has a sword tattoo on his chest...might not even be related but still. Might have just been a metaphor for 'cutting through the WWE', I'm just saying.
