Some people on the internet really have a skewed perspective on what the majority opinion is. It's like they live within this little bubble that is the forums. They see a multipage hate thread about CM Punk and suddenly come to the conclusion that everyone's turned on him. But if they were to take a closer look, it'd only be about 5 posters arguing back and forth. And not only is this a small fraction of the people that post here, it's an even smaller fraction of all fans within the WWE.

Outside of shocking "pipebomb" promos, this current incarnation of Punk has very little to offer, heel or face. Solid enough in the ring, but he was a bland face and is, from the looks of things, an even worse heel who can barely seem to attract any actual heat.
That being said, I don't know if any majority of people have turned on Punk. It might just seem that way because people's thoughts will change as the character changes, or as their tastes in wrestling change. I used to like Punk, now I could care less because I don't think he's played any new character as well as he did the whole "Straight Edge" thing in 2009-2010. Part of that also has to do with a change in what I look for in wrestling as well.
Can't wait for him to lose that title, though.

I stopped liking him once he turned face and was one of the wrestlers that stayed with Triple H during the walk out. I thought he was a sell out for doing that. Then he started to act like a douche as a face. His unfunny humor, his boring feud with Jericho and making DB his personal jobber made CM Punk my least favorite wrestler in the WWE. I know it is the writers fault for that but Punk was the one that did not run with the ball.
I think other people started to dislike him for holding the title for 400+ days. People always talks about how the WWE should have long title reigns but what happens is that people gets tired of the champion and turns on him. His 400+ days as champion have been awful and was not in a single good feud.

What an awful title run. They really should put the title on Ryback, just think of all the great Ryback matches in 2012 compared to Punk's half star snooze fests.

The Jericho feud was pretty awful, but there match at WM was amazing I wouldn't call that amazing at all. Solid, sure, but nowhere near 'amazing'. Of all the big matches at that show, it was the most disappointing. The Extreme Rules match, from what little I remember of it (should watch it again), was in an entirely different league than the WrestleMania one.

The "HE is the greatest" thread is more coherent than this.

This thread is a farce and should be locked.
It's assumptive, biased and basically trolling.

I think Punk really hasn't had any compelling feuds with anyone since before the heel turn. Its basically been Ryback or Cena for the past couple of months; the former is a one note character and the latter two inconsistently written.

Isn't that kinda the intent behind a heel turn?

Punk is alright I guess, I'm largely apathetic to him, but even if booking hadn't dropped the ball with his championship run I don't really see him as a guy that should hold the belt for a long period of time. He's kind of the dreaded "cool heel" and there's no fun in anyone chasing the cool heel's title. Part of it is that the Rock is coming back so you can't really have anyone else chasing after the title because if you have someone chasing it, they generally have to win it at the end and they obviously don't want anyone involved with Rocky other than Punk and probably Cena. Just my .02

I feel the IWC doesn't know what they want..
I will always stand by Punk until he burns my apartment down and gives my wife a hand job.. Other than that he is my favorite top guy to come about since JBL and Benoit and find his segments and matches my favorite part of the shows.. Followed by my fav 5's

For me, it's nothing against Punk himself (the person or the performer). He's another casualty of WWE's obtuse creative direction. The booking following his MitB win was nearly on par with WCW's in 2000. His heel turn was totally forced. His championship reign is absolutely devoid of drama or tension because everyone already knows how it's going to end.
I guess in a nutshell, I don't find any suspense left in the character or the angles they keep tossing him. It's, as usual for WWE, far more to do with the writing than the performer.

I never turned on Punk. He's been the highlight of Raw ever since they stopped doing the Heath Legends gimmick and they let Punk stop being lame and googoo over AJ.
