Well thanks for staying civil for all of 8 minutes hey i'm telling the truth everyone knows it's gonna happen and all of you will complain and then cena's gonna win at wrestlemania and you all will complain some more You're a douche, this needed to be said, just because you read 5 guys not liking heel Punk and 5 other guys not liking face Punk doesn't mean everyone is whiny and never happy, you're taking some people and saying everyone's like that, it's just a terrible way of thinking.

I still love him. He's not on top of his form sometimes, but still one of the biggest reasons that keeps me watching.

I still wear the jacket (now a vest) in my sig proudly!
I prefer Punk as a face, but he is still one of the main reasons I watch.

Some people on the internet really have a skewed perspective on what the majority opinion is. It's like they live within this little bubble that is the forums. They see a multipage hate thread about CM Punk and suddenly come to the conclusion that everyone's turned on him. But if they were to take a closer look, it'd only be about 5 posters arguing back and forth. And not only is this a small fraction of the people that post here, it's an even smaller fraction of all fans within the WWE. This is exactly right. It's like this in politics and everywhere else. There is a vocal minority that bicker over little things and it's easy to mistakenly think that they represent the majority because of how much noise they make between each other when they do not and have never represented (well, sometimes but never always) the opinion of the majority. Some people on this forum don't like Punk but there are plenty of people who do. Please don't make generalizing assumptions about what this forum thinks because it is a diverse network of divergent thoughts and opinions that make it such a unique place for discussion on a topic as fascinating and bizarre as professional wrestling.

At this point he's the only thing keeping me from shutting off Raw altogether.

I don't hate CM Punk, I don't even dislike CM Punk. I like him a hell of a lot more than most people in the back. I hate this idea that he's the best, because he's not. Daniel Bryan's the best. Daniel Bryan's the best in the world....

A long title reign is a good thing, but Punk has been stripped of anything that made him interesting IMO. It still feels like a forced heel turn. He's not not advocating change, or preaching Straight Edge. He feels more generic now.

I'll always mark for the guy I think he's great at what he does and one of the most well-rounded wrestlers I've ever seen. I love how he's scrawny by WWE standards and still manages to have this badass aura around him. He's the closest thing to Austin since Austin. He just didn't have the Brets, Takers, Mankinds, Rocks etc. to work with during his title reign, which a lot of people overlook. They had this great story with him winning the belt, and then he precedes to defend the title against a bunch of guys that went on to job to Sheamus for a year straight.

I'd like to think the fans turned on Punk for Rikishi doing it for The Rock.
Which somehow has something to do with the Finger Poke of Doom.

I stopped liking Punk when he started becoming a boring titleholder warming it up for The Rock. I'm not going to blindly admire a guy if he no longer entertains me.

It's quite simple actually:
Back prior to 2011, CM Punk was my favorite wrestler. I always enjoyed seeing him and he was always entertaining. Then that one promo came along. Since then, CM Punk's fanbase grew exponentially quickly and all of a sudden, CM Punk is liked by everyone.
But that's not too big of a deal. It's when all of a sudden the guy has godlike status to the point where everyone worships the ground he walks on and apparently the guy can do no wrong is when I start getting annoyed. I still like the guy, but the extent that people are still defending him really gets on my nerves at times. Punk's done plenty of things that would warrant a "John Cena's a douche thread" as both a babyface and a heel but no one ever calls him out on it.
I'm also sick of the whole "CM Punk sucks as a heel" thing going on nowadays because people seem to use it as a crutch to defend the guy. What exactly was so spectacular about his babyface character outside of the matches? What did he do on the mic that would warrant him never turning heel again? Because he's popular? So what? The guy ran out of heels to face and was already annoying as a face, I think the turn was justified and he's a lot more entertaining now.
TLDR version: I like the guy, but people defend him way too much and hold him too high in their regards.

The heel turn has been pretty terrible, really.
And even though I can't stand the man, I fully admit that he's too good for WWE.
Nobody can touch him on the mic and he can obliterate someone's credibility in amazingly short time on the mic, should he really, really want to.
With the cult-like charisma he has, he can also easily turn people against someone else just by posting on twitter that he can't stand the person.
I don't really feel like anyone else in the WWE has the social gravitational pull, or the vocal firepower to defend themselves against him, so he had to drop the 'pipebomb' character. I thought he actually worked fairly well as a sanitized WWE face. The heel turn, though, I don't know. Saddled with Cena for far too long, the Ryback thing hasn't really gone anywhere (as far as Punk's development). Punk's development as a heel is basically a casualty of Rock putting RAW into a holding pattern.

Because people want something, like a title run that goes for a long time, until they get it, and then they realise that actually, with the current exposure being what it is being so different to the 80s or the early 90s, long title runs dont work and get stale fast.

I think Punk's great. He's much more natural as a heel.
