Was just thinking about this.
Was watching a soccer match and following an online chat from a few weeks ago when a player who hadn't been playing particularly well went down potentially injured. On the chat, his own team's fans were actually happy about it, with one saying he hoped it was a long-term injury. I thought that was pretty tasteless, but surprisingly few people called them out on it. Maybe because getting injured is commonplace for pro athletes and so it doesn't seem as hurtful to wish injury on them.

Its against the rules to do it here. I should know, as my only warning in my 7-8 years here came from saying something that could be construed as wishing harm on a certain QB if you were being picky.

It's pretty poor
Same as the cheers from opposition fans when a player goes clearly injured, lowest of lows

Very much so. You want to celebrate the backup getting a chance or a new player taking his place because the guy sucked, that's fine but to celebrate a serious injury is douchey as a hell and reflects poorly on not only you but your teams.

When someone gets hurt, it's no longer about a game. We had this issue in KC when Castle got hurt and fans were cheering it. We do hate the other team and want them to lose but when they get hurt, it's life at that point.

As a Patriots fan I know I've done my fair share of wishing a lot of stupid injuries on the Giants for 18-1. But usually I was saying it in a joking light hearted fashion. I would truly never, ever wish for any injury serious or not to occur on anyone.

It's in bad taste defiantly.
Btw, I wish there was a difference on here, between wishing a wrestler "character" getting hurt, and them in real life. Of course no one wants to see them get hurt in real life.
I mean it's wrestling. It's a show, if I got to a "Die Hard" movie forum while I am watching the movie, and wish for that said villian to get hurt, or what not, they probably won't ban me, because they know I am strictly referencing the character.

Sub question, is it okay to wish temporary embarrassing ailments on people, such as hoping for a case of explosive diarrhea on say, Derek Jeter?

It depends on why. If it's because the person is performing too well or too poorly, then yes it is. If it's because the person is a piece of crap for things they've done outside of the sport (spousal abuse, manslaughter, sex crimes, etc), then I don't see the problem.

Yes, it is wrong.
Unless we're talking about Joey Barton.

I think it's wrong but I know it happens. I don't want to see anyone hurt, even if the player plays for a rival team.
