Only if you're wishing injury for on-the-field actions. I'd love to see Dez Bryant get knocked on his ass, resulting in a fumble on a potential game winning drive, because he acts like a total douchebag, but I'd hate to see him get seriously hurt.
But if it's for off-the-field scummery or criminal activities, then I don't see the problem. While I didn't actively wish for it, I didn't shed any tears over Michael Vick's injuries. Not because he's the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, but because he's a convicted animal abuser and killer.

How about if somebody on the opposing side gets hurt but not bad and you feel relieved? Last season Braxton Miller was running all over us. He tweaked his ankle a bit(still walking around) and was out for the game. Can't say I didn't feel like we got a big break there and was glad he didn't come back in.

Honestly, it is just wishful thinking, it is not as though it will actually cause injury. I would say it is kind of wrong, but in a pretty negligible way.

Yes, it is wrong. Unless we're talking about Joey Barton. Yeah, us and every football fan in the UK.

It's kind of a slippery slope. For example, in Football/Rugby/Aussie Rules it is okay if a Defensive player takes out a key player in a clean legit hit, but it is bullshit if it is a dirty play like horsecollar tackles and facemasks.

It's really a no-win situation.
Say there's someone you can't stand and they get hurt really bad. Now all they do is talk about how injured he is (poor so-and-so!), so it results in MORE coverage of said-guy-you-hate.

What I find funny is that fans often blame Brady for pussifying the NFL with the current safety-oriented, offense-friendly rules, when it was actually done by Bill Polian. I can imagine the fans' reactions to the following: - Giants beating Pats in SB42 = YEAH!
- Pollard injuring Brady = HELL YEAH!
- Brady clarification to the Carson Palmer rule = *group facepalm*
- Brady calling, and getting, a flag called against the Ravens in 2009, resulting in them winning 27-21 = FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUU...

May I ask who this player is and why his teammates would want this guy injured? I have a feeling that he was not well liked before the injury. Anyways, it is totally classless to wish injury on anyone.

Well, there's no link between wishing someone gets hurt and them actually getting hurt, so all it does it make you a dickhead who takes a stupid game you aren't even playing in too seriously.

Only reason being he was playing badly and so the injury would take him out of the game for some time.

That is like wishing death on a 5 year old. Maybe not that cruel, but it is bad.

Unless you actually have magical powers, I'm gonna say, "no."
Geez, you guys really believe you can do some damage with your minds.

Well, the debate of whether or not it's "classy" is pretty subjective in the already tacky world of pro sports, but the question was whether or not it was "wrong" which I took to mean morally right or wrong. I don't see any moral qualms with wishing harm to a pro-athlete. Like on the spectrum of what's morally wrong, it doesn't seem like its even on the radar.
