I'm not ok with it now, makes me cringe seeing it. Rewatching Armageddon 0, Kurt got ****ed up. Guess that means the WWE dun good then right.

The old-fashioned "put your hand up to block" shots are still ok in my book. The sick, unprotected shots are rightfully a thing of the past.

I think the only one that really bothers me looking back at it is in the Jericho / Benoit ladder match. Other than that, I don't really have a problem with them.

Try watching the Mexican Hardcore match from WCW 1999 where the luchadores do the exact same spot. The difference is that Benoit and Jericho did the spot and it was given the respect it deserved as commentary acknowledged that these guys were giving their health and well-being into their match (perhaps too much so). Meanwhile, the Luchadores are doing these insane spots and destroying their bodies while Tony Schiavone is laughing at them like goons and an unmotivated Bobby Heenan is making really bad jokes.

Doing an unprotected shot every so often really wouldn't be that bad. I'm not at all saying they should go back to how things were years ago, but occasionally it can be done for effect.

With a few exceptions, I frankly don't have a problem with them.

The only one match that bothered me was, Rock V. Foley- where he took 15-20 chair shots to the head (Shane came out to get Rocky to stop)

I agree they're disturbing, but I also HATE it that all chairshot attacks are to the back these days. If you're going to hit someone with an object, why would you aim anywhere except for the noggin?
I'd just scrap chair use altogether.

Without headshots, chair use just seems really lame. Same setup every time.
The guys who can do it with the protective hand, let them. Unprotected headshots are rightfully out of WWE forever.

I'd just scrap chair use altogether. But then you would lose everyone's favorite match, the chairs match.

I'd just scrap chair use altogether. I think most guys could use the "kill the body & the head will die" logic given most folks have finishers which damage the torso. Winding someone if you expect them to continue fighting like a tough guy through thick or thin is smarter than hitting them in the head given wrestling's amount of "instinct kick out!!!"s. Submission guys don't tend to have many thing which depend on knocking out an opponent either. D-Bry battering Sheamus' arm with a chair in their 2 out of 3 falls Extreme Rules match was a great spot. In kayfabe there are only a few guys on the roster who'd benefit from hitting the opponent in the head, Big Show being one of the prime examples due to his strength, maybe Lesnar too but his whole schtick of "I don't need a weapon I am a weapon" means it's pretty redundant.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a protected chair shot, with the hands up, every once in a while. The unprotected ones do seem unnecessary though.

Problem is you can't trust the other guy even if it is an unprotected chair shot. I remember a story of HHH going to protect himself with his hands against an Undertaker chairshot, so Taker just hit him in the back of the head instead. And this is a vet we're talking about.

Triple H in particular was always good at the hand up chairshot spot, have him teach the roster how they're done so that not every chair shot has to be to the midsection and back.

At the very, very most, I would only accept one(I emphasize ONE) unprotected chair shot in a hardcore match that ends a feud for effect. That's it.
