The time when I started watching. I remember a few things, like
Festus being unstoppaple
Edge and Vickie
Rey Mysterio and Batista getting hurt
Kizarny
John Morrison looking like a future main eventer
Jeff Hardy's ascension and downfall
That TLC match with Undertakers career on the line. (I was like 10, I thought that was real. I cried so hard...)

It's definitely Great Power Uti's favourite era of SmackDown.

Honestly, I think 2009 Smackdown blows 2008 out of the water.
2008 Smackdown wasn't a bad year so much as a transitional year with a few growing pains, as opposed to 2009 which was incredible consistent.
Hardy-Punk was a flawlessly booked feud, possibly second only to Michaels-Jericho.
The start of Drew McIntyre's "chosen one" angle.
Hardy being absurdly over.
Mysterio-Jericho

Taker coming back in 2009 pretty much wrecked everything Smackdown had built.

The start of Drew McIntyre's "chosen one" angle. That was a good thing?

2008 was really damaged by the fact that the #1 and #3 faces (If I remember correctly) were injured either before or during the start of the year (Mysterio and Batista). And yeah, Hardy was over like crazy. Him and Punk were made for each other, almost as good as Punk and Cena. I mean, your top heel prides himself on being drug free, and your top face has had a history of drug problems? WWE really got lucky with that.

Mysterio-Jericho Definitely. 2009 was a dull year, to me; if it weren't for SmackDown being consistently great - Edge/Cena, Punk/Hardy, their awesome midcard - I probably would've stopped watching the product as a whole by summer. Punk/Hardy especially kept me tuned in.

John Morrison vs Rey Mysterio IC Title match alone makes those two years awesome, never mind how great everything else was. The Smackdown roster at that time was the second best roster in the shows history, second only to 02-03 roster. Match of the year candidates every week, midcard direction and pushed stars to the main event (Morrison), a clear direction of the program and the main feuds it had everything.
Damn, I loved Morrison vs Hardy as well. I feel bad for singling these two matches out because in that two years there were so many incredible one's.
