Sheamus has had some killer tv matches this year with the likes of Orton, Bryan, Ziggler, Barrett and Tensai.
The guy has to be in the top 5 in-ring performers in the WWE at the moment. So TV match of the year, any of the above. Thought they were all brilliant.

Seem to remember Kofi and Ziggler having a surprisingly awesome, surprisingly long (for Raw) back-and-forth match at some point.

Cesaro vs Sheamus was pretty awesome. Tensai vs Orton from some Smackdown in the fall is an obscure great TV match.

Would CM Punk/Vince McMahon count even though it wasn't an official match?

Got to go with the Fatal Four way US championship match on Raw a while back. a really good match that I thought would have been another predictable tag team match

Punk vs. Vince and every single Cena/Del Rio match was deep fried gold with a side of hash silver.

This board is very anti-Big Show but the lumber jack frost match with Sheamus was PPV worthy. Better then the Cena/Del Rio one (even though that would be the comedy match of the year)

Can any Observer subscribers tell me whether or not Meltzer gives ratings to TV matches? If so, I'd be very curious as to what ratings the Punk/Vince match and Miracle on 34th Street Fight got.

IIRC, he rates them on a different scale than PPV matches due to the time constraints that often plague TV matches.

Also I wouldn't call them MOTY contenders or anything, but I thought the Tensai/Sheamus matches earlier in the year when Tensai returned were really good too. Sheamus has really shown to have great chemistry with the bigger guys. That's what I came in here to post.

Some favorites of mine: - Miz vs Kofi from Main Event (IC title match)
- Sheamus vs Daniel Bryan (street fight)
- Rey Mysterio vs Bryan
- Punk vs Bryan (numerous matches on Raw and SD in early '12)
- Cena vs Bryan
- Ziggler vs Orton (on both Raw and SD)
- Ziggler vs Jericho (Raw, Jericho's last match)
- Cesaro vs Kofi on Main Event (it got turned into a tag match later on)
- Punk vs Ziggler (WWE title - first Raw of 2012, their late 2011 match was better, though)
- Sheamus vs Tensai (SD)
- Del Rio vs Sin Cara (their most recent one on Raw...not the one where Del Rio accidentally pulled off Cara's mask)
My memory isn't so good with dates and all that. I'm leaving out a lot of solid SD matches. There was a really good 4-way tag match with The Epic Primos as tag champions earlier this year, too. I am so glad Sheamus VS Tensai got a nod somewhere.. It was absolutely brutal looking. It put Sheamus over in my mind as a great brawler/

Mark Henry vs. CM Punk for the WWE title was much better than I thought it could ever be. That whole series was fantastic. Easily my favorite TV matches this year!

If I may throw out two that haven't been mentioned yet -
The Orton-Kane No Holds Barred match that took place between their Mania and Extreme Rules matches was the best of the three matches that they had. Kane looked like a monster and Orton looked dedicated to do anything to destroy the monster. I desperately hope this ends up on the Best of 2012 set.
And, I'm surprised it's not mentioned, but the Beth Phoenix - Nattie match drew me in like few TV matches did this year. From going to the rope to get out of the sharpshooter to the kick out of the glam slam, just calling it the Best Divas Match of the Year would be damning it with faint praise. A wonderful send-off to Beth that was also Nattie's finest fart-less Khali-less moment of the year.

So many Sheamus TV matches were so damn good this year. Sheamus vs. Sandow and Sheamus vs. Bryan in a Street Fight were my two favorites. Sheamus vs. Cesaro was really good too.
