Bit of a divergence from the Chocolate Orange thing, but one cultural gap that I found really hard to come to terms with was knowing that Americans don't have Christmas Crackers. You can buy them here they just are not really part of tradition.

The dark chocolate one is the best.

Such an intrinsic and iconic piece of the Christmas celebration over here just never made it over there. We do them every year, and they are sold all over the place now days.

Love them! They are pretty easy to find here in Los Angeles during the holiday season. Still got 2 left over from the 6 I bought this year

We have the Jerry Springer show for all our cracker needs.

I've seen the Chocolate Oranges in the NYC area before, although as others have said they're not all that common.
For the person mentioning Scotch Eggs, no I've never seen a restaurants or supermarket selling them, even "British Pub" style restaurants or in speciality or gourmet supermarkets. Although after looking them up, I have to ask, why the hell don't we? Those things look awesome.
As for Christmas Crackers, shame on you for getting me all excited about a potentially new tasty holiday treat only to discover that its just a really cheap firework. We Americans prefer our explosions on 4th of July, not Christmas, thank you very much.

Scotch eggs are only any good if it's the entire boiled egg, the chopped up egg ones are rubbish

You CAN actually buy Christmas Crackers here. I saw them at Barnes & Noble the last two years. It's just not an ingrained tradition for us, which is surprising, given how much we love explosions.

Hard to open? Are you serious? I literally bang it against the wall and boom, done.

Yes, I like these. But not had one in a while.
You can get them in Australia. Orange shaped and in a bar form.
But I like most kinds of orange flavored chocolate. Like the UK chocolate biscuit bar 'Club'.

Never had one, but I can't fathom everything going with chocolate. Kind of like chocolate and spearmint.

Dudes, Dawn French uses our forum. We should ask her if Lenny Henry actually stays in Premier Inn's. True story - I once saw Lenny Henry in a branch of HMV. I couldn't think of any of his material to quote at him without sounding sarcastic and/or sexually threatening ('I don't know about the vinyl but I can show you the way to the 12 inch').

Haha, reminds me, I actually saw Mark Addy (King Baratheon from Game of Thrones) in a Premier Inn last year, but by the time I'd thought of anything witty to say, he'd already got his Scrambled Eggs & left

There's ice creams now: They're ok but as with seemingly every ice cream incarnation of a chocolate thing, they're not as good as the chocolate.
