I am admittedly not a fan of the divas but that match was awesome. I was marking for Kaitlyn from the clothesline/body block rally until the end. Eve has improved a ton since she started training BJJ. She will be missed.

I thought it was match of the night... I don't know if I should say that's great for the Divas or shows how the rest of the RAW was.

Good match, despite the outcome.
Eve always worked best with strong Divas. So it's no surprise she and Kaitlyn had that kind of chemistry.
And yes, Kaitlyn needs to use the spear as a finisher.

Hells Yes! She really deserves it IMO. Glad they finally pulled the trigger on her.

Best match of the night. Amazing what happens when you give them time, a storyline and build. I think that kind of downplays the role that tonight's show being in Katilyn's hometown had. Their match last week was almost as long and had the same feud behind it, yet got the polar opposite crowd reaction from tonight. Same for their segment on the New Year's Eve show. WWE was smart to do it tonight rather than last week, next Monday's show, or at the Rumble. Good for Kaitlyn to get her moment in her hometown. 2 1/2 years ago at this time, she hadn't even had her first match yet, and now she's one of the top two Divas. That's pretty cool. Like you say that's smart from WWE, hopefully she can build on that crowd reaction in the next few shows. I don't mean this in a bad way but crowds are sheep, if a lot of people respond to something others think they should to. One of the best examples of this is Punk debuting in the Hammerstein ballroom, although not his hometown he got a massive reaction from a smarky crowd that made him look like a big star from the very start which helped him a lot in his early appearances. A big moment for a face is different to heels getting cheered in their hometown/country, the first reaction fits the narrative but the later is just one crowd going against the grain for a specific reason.

So glad to see Kaitlyn get the title. Especially in a proper feud with a proper match. Both her and Eve were great throughout the feud. But their match last night was excellent. Eve's reign and Kaitlyn's victory are genuinely memorable which is rare for the Divas division where title changes and title reigns normally just happen without much excitement.
For someone with so little wrestling experience she was never AS terrible as you'd imagine and started improving very quickly. Almost since her debut I remember thinking(and saying on here numerous times) that she could be pretty special if WWE give her a chance. Based on her look and personality and ever improving ring skills. It's good to see that working out. She's got even better than I imagined - I love her move set now!
Congratulations Kaitlyn!

She come a long way, baby.
From having one of the worst Divas matches in history to top of the mountain. I feel like a proud dad.

That is build though. Everything they've done built to tonight, built to them doing a segment where Booker told Eve she couldn't run and couldn't get DQ'd, which made the match important. Either Kaitlyn was finally getting the title, in her hometown no less, or the excuses were over and she lost. From NoC until tonight it was Eve somehow screwing Eve out of the title match, out of the win or out of the title. I remember either stuff getting good crowd reaction, not blow away but best I've heard for Divas' stuff in year. They had a match last week and a segment the week before that, and you're the first one I've heard say the crowds weren't dead. In particular, on Diva Dirt two weeks ago after the 12/31 Raw, people commentating were saying the crowd actually hurt their segment because of how non-responsive they were. So that's why I'm saying the hometown crowd factor shouldn't be downplayed. It never should, really. I remember shows where Sylvain Greiner or Hardcore Holly would wrestle in front of their hometown crowd, and people went nuts for them. The only time I have ever heard the crowd react to Beth Phoenix was at Night Of Champions '11 in Buffalo.

Yeah, she may be strong, and can brawl, but I think her actual ring skill are still pretty weak. Even with her time to get better, I feel her storytelling and ring psychology is on the underwhelming side.

That brawling style IS her in ring skill. You don't have to be a submission specialist to be an effective in ring performer. She may not be Beth or Nattie quite yet but she's getting better and better and is actually one of the most entertaining Divas I can remember for a long time. In terms of move set and psychology I think she's getting really good. Even before she had honed her move set she had a couple of genuinely fun matches with Nattie on NXT with good stories and psychology. She seems like a born Face to me as well. Which as a bit of a mark, I like. It's hard to be an effective Face these days but she's pretty good at it. And last nights match had the psychology and storytelling spot on I thought.

Even at brawling, I still find that there's hardly no storytelling and little to no psychology to it. The bar of mainstream women's wrestling has been set so low, that when one match comes along and it's not a dud or a clunker, we automatically say "It's a fun, match," or "What a great women's match." I love to see great women's matches, but I just not seeing it from WWE and TNA. I wish Kaitlyn the best and she is hot, but I can't let that influence my opinion of her ringwork.

I love to see great women's matches, but I just not seeing it from WWE and TNA. I wish Kaitlyn the best and she is hot, but I can't let that influence my opinion of her ringwork. That's fair enough. I guess I have a different opinion in general of WWE women's wrestling. I actually think the standard is decent. The average is dramatically decreased by Aksana and Rosa for example. But in general the Divas are just not given much of a platform. There are more than a few decent matches in my opinion, they just quite often get ignored. It's more the lack of storylines and reasons for matches that is lacking in my view. Which is perhaps the reason why decent and good matches get ignored. Also, though I am a big fan of Kaitlyn and find her very attractive I wouldn't let that cloud my opinion of her in-ring talent either. I find the majority of Divas attractive! If I wasn't convinced with her ring work I'd leave my praise at 'well done Kaitlyn'. But in my honest opinion she has improved leaps and bounds in a very short space of time. She just really needs new music.

I liked the match but they really didn't sell anything. Kaitlyn hits her Reverse DDTFinal Cut thingie, Eve kicks out and hits her finisher straight away. Kaitlyn kicks out and again, seconds later hits her own finisher without any sign of damage. Eve takes the finisher and rolls to the outside where she instantly gains advantage and throws Kaitlyn over the barrier. Kaitlyn pops up and runs in the ring. These women are superhuman.
