I don't think I can make sense of these damn ratings breakdowns anymore. All I can gather is that if you get the top of the hour segment, you're golden regardless of where you are on the card.

I bet they regret having a hot steel cage ME with Cena saluting the camera at the top of the ramp and then focusing on AJ at the top of the cage like the normally end the shows so close to the top of the hour. Judging by reactions on twitter and here many people felt that was the end of the show forgetting about the Rock Concert.
Next week should interesting to see what it does so we can get a better idea if it was a bad layout of the show fooling people or people don't care. With Punk losing numbers in a match and the expected interaction with Rock and Punk in the overrun doing a disappointing number on top of all the historically low overruns Punk has done during this run he will 100% be losing the belt if the go home segments with him and Rock fall flat.
So if next week's number doesn't spike I wouldn't be shocked to see them shoot right to Rock vs Cena first thing, and the put Punk with Ryback at mania to let Ryback get that big clean win over him and slip Taker in with Brock and keep HHH off the show or use him to elevate Cesaro as HHH could stand up for America and lose. Then get Punk back to being a face after putting over Ryback and look to do a Brock with Paul vs Punk match at SummerSlam if Brock does a new deal for Punks big win as a return to being a babyface .

The rating star of the show was Flair over Rock, actually by a considerable margin. In the segment-by-segment, they opened really big with Vince McMahon in a segment with Big Show and Alberto Del Rio, doing a 3.44 opening quarter. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett lost 171,000 viewers, which is really good considering the strength of the open with McMahon and running such a long match early. Kane vs. Damien Sandow and the Mick Foley Hall of Fame announcement with the brawl with The Shield, Ryback, Randy Orton and Sheamus losing 497,000 viewers. The Ryback interview and Kaitlyn vs. Eve Torres for the Divas title gained 509,000 viewers at 9 p.m. to a 3.33 rating. C.M. Punk vs. Brodus Clay lost 149,000 viewers. The C.M. Punk post-match interview, the cars being destroyed video of old Raw episodes and Mick Foley, The Rock and Vickie Guerrero backstage gained 142,000 viewers. Sheamus vs. 3MB in a Battle Royal and a John Cena backstage interview lost 202,000 viewers. Miz TV with Flair and Antonio Cesaro gained 449,000 viewers at 10 p.m. for the show’s peak rating of 3.50. Daniel Bryan vs. Cody Rhodes, plus A.J., Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler promo and vignette on weddings in WWE lost 752,000 viewers which is likely to be among the biggest drops of the year, and that’s with no football. John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler in the cage match gained 118,000 viewers. The final segment with The Rock concert and the brawl with Punk gained 207,000 viewers, which is a low overrun gain, to a 3.20 quarter. Kaitlyn/Eve gains 500,000. Rock concert gains only 200,000. I'm going to pretend this means everything this time. Kaitlyn > Rock.

The same thing happened at WrestleMania. The Rock/Cena segments weren't drawing that well (neither did 'Taker/HHH when WWE took that and promoted it as the biggest part of the show), yet we all know what WrestleMania drew. Unless it becomes a trend, the breakdowns don't necessarily mean we're in trouble.
In any case, the breakdown from last week shows both Punk/Ryback and Rock/Punk doing good numbers.

I'm honestly kind of surprised the overrun didn't do better than that.

Keep in mind 3 hours for a product that appeals to many young children usually ends way past their bed time. So hence the third hour will always drop. I don't see how many parents in the eastern timezone let their kids stay up till 11pm watching wrestling on a school night?

Not really a surprise. I know that many in the Raw thread were expecting legends and stuff, but I think Raw 1000 was the "Big celebration for Raw" and this was just a clip show with some wreslting and a Rock concert. Ziggler jobs, Punk attacks Rocky here means Gerwitz back Kaitlyn wins the Divas belt Eve's absence will be felt Big Show moans, Del Rio kicks Heath made Sheamus hit the bricks Ryback, Orton led the way WHAT ELSE DO WE HAVE TO SAY They'll never stop the McMahons! Have no fear, we'll have stories for years, like Miz becomes a robot, Maybe Ambrose gets a cell phone, has Cena ever owned a bear? Or, how bout a crazy wedding? Where AJ happens and doo doo doo doo doo Sorry for the clip show! Have no fear we'll have stories for years like...

The final segment with The Rock concert and the brawl with Punk gained 207,000 viewers, which is a low overrun gain, to a 3.20 quarter. I'm bored and going to look at this slightly different. I am going to start with 0 and then add/subtract the viewers lost/gained over the show to see if they ever got higher than the open. Math: {Spoiler}(Vince/Del Rio/Show): 0/Even/Start (Orton/Barrett): -171,000 (Kane/Bryan/Rhodes/Sandow/Foley/Shield/Orton/Ryback/Sheamus): -668,000 (Ryback/Kaitlyn/Eve): -159,000 (Punk/Clay): -308,000 (Punk/Vickie/Rocky/Foley): -166,000 (Sheamus/3MB/Cena): -368,000 (Miz/Flair/Cesaro): +81,000 (Bryan/Kane/Sandow/Rhodes/AJ/Big E/Dolph): -671,000 (Cena/Ziggler/AJ/Big E): -553,000 (Rock/Vickie/Punk): -346,000 So if I didn't screw it up (which is entirely possible as I suck at math), at only one point in the show, segment 8 with Flair) did they have more viewers than they started with. The 9th segment with 2nd THN/Rhodes Scholars match and Dolph/AJ/Big E stuff had the fewest but was greatly helped by following the only segment to have more than the open. Again if I didn't screw it up, more people saw the Punk solo promo and the Rock with Foley and Vickie than saw the Rock Concert and the pull apart brawl.

I don't see how many parents in the eastern timezone let their kids stay up till 11pm watching wrestling on a school night? I don't want to be that guy, but kids don't make up nearly as much of the RAW audience as everyone thinks. And RAW has almost always ended with an 11:00 over-run, on a school night, with many more kids watching. (Contrary to popular belief, the Attitude Era had way more kids watching than today). If there's a dip, it's just basic all around burn-out or disinterest, across the board. That said, WWE needs to really restructure their format. They have their audience trained to only watch 3-4 quarter-hour segments a show.
