I thought the scene with Black Widow and Loki was one of the better acted scenes in The Avengers.

I hated him until I watched that movie. He was hilarious. Same here. He really won me over with his performance in that movie. Solid film, that aside, but I wasn't expecting much out of him. add me to the "21 Jump St. completely changed my opinion of Channing Tatum" club. as for Jason Statham, well, he's great at playing Jason Statham.

Hey now, Ghost World, The Perfect Score, Lost in Translation, The Prestige, and the Avengers she was solid in. Also she was solid in the roles she played on Robot Chicken. Admittedly, I don't think she's ever going to be the world's greatest actress, but give her a good role, good writing and a good director, and she's good. She's one of the actors/actresses that is as good as what's around them. I don't really see 'solid' as much of a compliment. The girl is just totally deadpan, and not in a funny way. In Avengers she barely registers. Lost In Translation barely counts as an understated performance because unlike Bill Murray, she's never done anything else but understated. She was okay in The Prestige. she was flat-out terrible in Avengers. everyone else clearly cared and put in a great performance (even Renner, who wasn't given much to work with), but she just looked bored the whole time. I wouldn't even notice if she wasn't in the sequel.

Did anybody ever watch The Event? My god it was terrible, the story may have been a convoluted mess but even that was no excuse for such horrible acting, Sarah Roemer taking the crown for the worst performance amidst some strong competition. Damn I didn't realise how much I miss that show. I'll also post this again, nobody ever watches it when I do but it's the worst acting I've ever seen. youtu.be/c6l1uKfk4QU?t=8m20s

Plus...she plays an assassin, she isn't exactly meant to be chirpy.

I thought she did a great Black Widow, personally. Her Black Widow makes me want to put my head through a wall. Easily the worst representation of a character in the Marvel Studios films.

Easily the worst representation of a character in the Marvel Studios films. considering I called her out a couple posts back for her wooden performance, I'll be fair to Scarlett Johansson here. Black Widow's not really the kind of character who "works" in a big shiny superhero story. she's more of a noir/spy-thriller kind of character whose best stories involve her working behind the scenes and out of sight. there's a reason her period from the 90s as the Avengers' leader isn't looked upon too fondly (well, that and the ridiculous outfits). the story would've been served better by including Ant-man and Wasp, whose powers would've made for great visuals that "girl with pistols" doesn't really do. but again, that's not really Wheddon's fault that Edgar Wright dragged his feet so badly.

Exactly. He doesn't need to act. He just needs to be Jason Statham. He's not that bad of an actor when he goes against his comfort zone.

Besides the wooden performance, Johassen couldn't even be bothered to put on a Russian accent for the role of Black Widow. I mean you're a professional actress, is it really that hard to put on an accent for the sake of a character? The Black Widow is Russian, not "can pretend to be Russian" like they stated in Iron Man 2.

I have never understood what's so great about Julia Roberts.
She's not the worst actress ever but I never saw what was supposedly so great about her.

Ford and Williams did their own thing and ignored Lucas or talked Lucas out of bad direction.

I've seen Julianne Moore in about five movies and she stunk in all of them. She made Kristen Stewart look like the most charismatic actress in the world in comparison. See her in 'Next' to see someone truly phoning it in. Picture this... two men, adrift... in a sea of wrong. We'll just have to disagree then. I saw 'Next' and couldn't believe she got paid for that performance. She got out acted by Jessica Biel for god's sake.
