Whats the point in buying Grand Theft Auto 5 if a new system is coming out 2 months later. The new systems won't have many games for the first year and will be ungodly expensive at launch, not to mention the generally small supply of launch units that tend to happen with consoles? I'm not buying a PS4 until at the earliest Black Friday 2014 if it does launch this year. And that's only if there is a great deal on it then. Otherwise I'll just wait till the first price drop happens. Sony isn't going to up and abandon the PS3, either. The system has a 10 year life cycle, that means Sony will give it software support until 2016 give or take.

I feel as though the system is being rushed out for some reason. I don't know when the 720 is coming out, but my ideal target date if I were at Sony would be Summer 2014. Get the big games that are coming out, out of the way and then start fresh. For me it's bad timing, GTA 5 is one of the biggest games in the last 3-4 years, so what do you do? You come out with a new system 2 months later. It's almost as if Sony is choosing between us buying GTA 5 and keeping the PS 3, or buying the PS 4. Last of Us for example, comes out in May. There was a game coming out next year, Watch Dogs, is that PS 3 or PS 4 now?

EDIT: Remember, PS2 released God of War II, 6 months AFTER the release of the PS3. Yeah, usually if I get a console, I wait until a year after launch mostly. That way, everything is set in stone, price is usually at a "reasonable" price, and there's enough games out where the bugs and kinks in the system are mostly worked out. Every console I have owned I've gotten about a year after release. I remember getting the PS1 for Xmas in 1996, the PS2 I got in the late summer/early fall of 2001 (there's a funny story on how I ended up with it, but it's a little TOO personal. Let's just say, my parents REALLY had to make it up to me and my brother), PS3, I got at Xmas '07. And I got the Wii around this time in 2008 as a late birthday present from my parents. The only one I bought late was the Gamecube. And that was pretty much for Resident Evil 4. The last time I'll really believe that "console exclusivity" should only be for the first-party titles.

I got the PS 3 in 2009, so about what...2 years after its release. But by that time, Sony had developed a big enough library for me to take the plunge. I'll hold off on this one as well. Usually the first shipments always have hardware problems as well.

I mean, Sony could probably keep pumping out new accessories and publishers could continue to release games for a few more years if they wanted and it'd still hold up. Obviously there's been graphical improvements since 2006 that the PS4 will have, and it'll surely have a lot more RAM and all that, but I'm really curious if Sony can entice anyone to buy a console that (presumably) will do a lot of the same stuff that PS3 does.

Almost every other marquee game is out of the way right now with almost nothing announced past June. As long as it is no more than $400 for the top of the line system, I shall get one day one. Each generation I get one day one, there is excitement and freshness to being a part of the ride from he start. I did it with SNES, Playstation, N64, Dreamcast, tried to with PS2 but it was a bitch to find and finally Wii. Since I passed on Wii U for now that leaves Sony (but what about MS? No exclusives I care about sans a handful of Arcade games).

Right now the rumor price is $400 yeah, and if they have any sense they do not surpass that.

Right now the rumor price is $400 I actually would be okay with that as a starting price. When you consider that the Wii U deluxe + a game or 2 would cost more than that, it's nowhere near as bad as PS3 when it launched.

True. If the system is $400, I would at least consider a launch day purchase.

I'll definitely be getting one eventually, but if the PS2 and PS3 are anything to go off of, there won't be a title worth owning for at least a year or so, so I'll probably wait until then.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna wait until Hideo Kojima gets his hands on it before considering buying PS4. I wonder how many PS3 games will be "re-released" in the first year.

How sad is it that the Dead Space 3 commercial quotes only one review, that being GameInformer's 9.75/10 review(the highest score any critic has given the game and one of the very few 9+ scores)?

Best Buy now lists The Last of Us as a June 18th date. Gamestop and Amazon still have the May 6th date.
Joy... :/

Yknow I'm looking forward to the PS4 launch because about 3 or so years later the PS3 should be really cheap. I wanna play the newer WWE games but not spend more than idk $50 max for a system.
