So we get a few weeks of Randy saying how much he NEEDS to win the Rumble followed by dramatically staring down Sheamus, which certainly seems to be setting up the two of them eliminating each other and Orton snapping. Then, at the Rumble... they barely interact at all, even when they're both among the final half-dozen guys.
And then there's the several times we had Ryback/Sheamus/Orton together in the ring confronting the Shield, seemingly to set up a six-man match down the line... and last night, it's Cena paired with Ryback and Sheamus instead.
(Though considering the three of them got their asses kicked while the Shield always backed down from RKO/Fella/Skip, I guess Orton > Cena.)
Has a life squandered on 'roids and polygamy finally consigned Randy Orton to the cruel and terrible fate of being a prop to get people to care about THE MIZ's feuds???

Well it just seems there giving him random things to do for the past couple of weeks until they finally decide to pull the trigger on the heel turn.Thought at this point I have no clue on how you turn Orton heel when most of the viewing audience still strongly cheer him on.

It's amazing far Orton has fallen in terms of relevance and story focus.

On top of that, he appears to be entered in this Wednesday's IC Title tournament? When was the last time a major player like Orton got entered in a match like that? I assume he must be getting punished by Vince for something at this point, maybe what he said in some of those interviews. He mails it in about 80% of the time these days but still gets HUGE pops, and hasn't really been presented as "top tier" in a few years. Some nights he seems to be moving pretty gingerly as well(might be why he mails it in).
I think he needs some time off and to come back fresh. I prefer him as a heel, but based on crowd reactions I think they should let him have Cena's spot for a run. I think Orton could legit have the whole crowd on his side if they did that.

I think they're using him less because he's 1 strike away from release. Or did he only have 1 strike?

I think they're using him less because he's 1 strike away from release. Or did he only have 1 strike? Yeah he's only got 1 strike left, the pharmacy thing doesn't count toward it though. But unlike Jeff Hardy before him who had 2 strikes when he was pushed to the moon, he sells nowhere near as much merchandise to warrant a push. He'll just be an over uppermidcarder for the rest of his days, because pushing him isn't worth the risk if/we he gets canned with his third strike.

They should give him an actual character because, right now, he's essentially an Affliction t-shirt that somehow became sentient.

I don't feel he's phoning it in, I get the gone he's holding back so as not to make the younger guys look terrible.

I'm thinking Del Rio's sudden runaway success has changed WWE's mind about what to do with the WHC at Wrestlemania. John Cena basically burying it probably had a role too.

I've felt this way ever since they had him job to Kane in the undercard at Wrestlemania. It's almost criminal how they've wasted Orton.

This sounds like a clever storyline, where somehow Randy Orton's very life & career seems to be vanishing.
This is followed by weeks of his random re-cast wives filing for divorce.
Then a segment where HHH wants to know who this tattooed dude screaming about legacy and evolution is.
And then his dad shows up, and as they talk backstage Cowboy Bob suddenly starts screaming and then fades into nothingness.
Ultimately, it's revealed to be all a time travelling scheme concocted by Ted DiBiase Jr.........
........and the blow off match never happens and Ted Jr. is released.
This is why I need therapy. Or am awesome. I don't know which.

I feel like they're wasting Orton, not just because he deserves better, but because no one is really benefitting from Orton's depush.
Orton is no longer in the main event, but they're hardly using him to put anyone over. The only difference between now and 2010-2011 Orton is that he doesn't have the belt and he isn't in any storylines. He just continues to run everyone over, and anyone that does beat him, he just gets his win back later. And the people who ARE beating him are people that WWE are pushing or showcasing anyway.
If you're going to depush, bury, job out someone, can it at least be done productively? Use Orton to give someone a moment that they otherwise wouldn't get.

I doubt they'd be wasting him as much if he hadn't screwed up as much as he did last year. He only has himself to blame.
