In no way is Nirvana a one hit wonder, even in the op's bizzare definition of a one hit wonder. They had several songs in the top 10 US rock charts and All Apologies, Lithium, Come as You are, and in Bloom are still played in pretty heavy rotation on classic rock radio. Maybe not a one hit wonder like The Buggles, but first thing that comes to mind when you hear Nirvana is Smells Like Teen Spirit. The only songs they ever play on the radio that I hear are SLTS, Come as You Are, In Bloom and About a Girl (Unplugged). That's it, no one knows a single thing from Bleach or Incesticide. Without SLTS, Nirvana would've still been a small band from Seattle.

Don't know if this would count but Kittie. Made a big splash with thier first single Brackish which is the song they're still best known for today which is sad as they were 15-17 years old at the time and the older, tighter and more legit (were originally kind of limited musically and have since improved immensely) they've gotten as a band the less albums they've sold. Thier next hit was Cut Throat from thier 6th album from In The Black is one of my all time favourite albums.

I definitely think Blind Melon would have continued to have success if not for Shannon Hoon's drug problems and his early death. Absolutely no question in my mind either

I think some people have a very skewed definition of a one-hit wonder here. a band with as much success as Faith No More isn't a one-hit wonder.

As I said earlier, I don't think it was meant to discuss "one hit wonder" in terms of charting or albums/singles sold. I think it was meant more casually and generally than that.
Like Hanson and "Mmmbop". They had other hit songs but you say "Hanson" and inevitably people say "Mmmbop"!
Maybe a better title would have been something like "most widely known song" but even then, you'd get the same people saying "but *I* know this one" even though we're not talking specifically, we're talking generally.
I think no matter what the title was, the point would have been missed or bludgeoned to death. Which is a shame, because the point as I understand it is kind of fun.

An argument could be made for "What I Got" by Sublime as well. I love Sublime, but I reckon its fair to say that was their only big hit song. What I Got was pretty big, but the stations out here also played the hell out of Santeria, Wrong Way, Caress Me Down and Badfish.

Going by the definition of the OP, Nine Inch Nails (to a mainstream audience)

My favorite Faith No More song is their cover of "I Started a Joke". Just thought I'd add that.
Also, based on their released output vs. hits, Crazy Elephant, studio concoction (of alleged Welsh coal miners, despite how they sounded) or not, deserved better than one #12 hit ("Gimme, Gimme Good Lovin'). Listen to "Sunshine, Red Wine," and tell me that they didn't deserve at least one more hit. I think that K + K just weren't trying by this point. They also reincarnated featuring most of the members of 10CC before they got successful, and recorded "Umbopo," which I love.

Eagle Eye Cherry. Always thought Save Tonight was a good song and had a great video, he basically disappeared after that song.

Going by the definition of the OP, Nine Inch Nails (to a mainstream audience) Lets have Rush as well then. (going by the OP's definition). And Yes, can't forget Pink Floyd as well.

Going by the definition of the OP, Nine Inch Nails (to a mainstream audience) Lets have Rush as well then. (going by the OP's definition). And Yes, can't forget Pink Floyd as well. Jeez this is the most heat I've gotten on FAN in a while. I started a thread about a fun topic that I knew could be debatle so I even asked that we try to avoid it only to get slammed a post or two in. Then the piling on commenced and before I knew it posters were implying that if Faith No More counted as a one hit wonder than so did Nirvana and Pink Floyd. Yeah, FNM's success is totally comparable to Nirvana and Pink Floyd by the way I guess Dynamite Hack doesn't count as a one hit wonder either since they reached #92 on the Lithuanian charts with a second hit for a week. Well, I'm done for this thread. Maybe I'll pop in and make another snarky comment or two, but pretty much done debating a topic I had no desire to debate in the first place. Next time I think about starting a thread about one hit wonders I think I'll slam my head into a brick wall instead. At least there is a slight chance I might enjoy that.

Ashley Banks got a raw deal when her dumbass record label oversaturated the market. "Make Up Your Mind" was the pinnacle of 1990s r&b.
