The Last Stand with Arny wasn't too bad. It was pretty good I thought but it went the to much comedy route. I agree with the lack of action stars of this generation. We have Jason Stathom Vin Diesel The Rock As our current action stars basically and none of them really are that great. Rock could have been but oh well. Action films have to be different now, and focus more on story. Die Hard is a great example of both past and present because Die Hard the first one had elements of movies of the 80's and action movies of current days. No love for Liam Neeson? As well as Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, Daniel Craig, and you might make a case for Clive Owen, as well.

Okay, I agree with Damon, Craig, and Clive Owen as well. But when I think of action stars, I do not think of those three.
The Bourne series while awesome and amazing still makes me feel strange to be watching Matt Damon as an action star out of that series. When I saw "Green zone" I just didn't feel it. Matt Damon to me at least is not an action star but someone who has made a few action movies
Daniel Craig is the same way, I see him only as James Bond who I view as a detective. Only two of his movies "Casino Royale and Skyfall" were actually great. His other movies are usually more thriller. (Defiance was great though. Cowboys and Indians (well I just wasn't a fan))
Clive Owen I always thought could have been great as well as I love "Shoot'em Up" and I thought he would have made a decent James Bond as well.
But comparing this generation towards the past
Arnold Willis JVCD Segal (yes Segal) Wesley Snipes Stallone Chuck norris (to an extent) Jackie Chan Jet Li
heck even Mel Gibson (Get the Gringo, is a good movie by the way)
it just lacks. But the quality of movies has improved in action movies. The more I think about the more I prefer action movies these days because they are more unique and no longer having one character kill thousands of soldiers or whoever

What about Jeremy Renner?
He's been in S.W.A.T., Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, Avengers, Hansel and Gretel (may suck but it's been a hit), and Bourne Legacy.

Not yet. Renner has attempted to be an action star but I really don't think he can hold a movie on his own. For instance the new Bourne movie he was in, was "meh" in my opinion. Avengers, Mission Impossible, and Swat were all populated by others.
I wouldn't even count SWAT because he was practically a no name. I guess he just hasn't had a movie of his own yet. Every franchise he has been in, there has already been a major player. Tom Cruise will never/and shouldn't let go of Mission Impossible because that is his baby, and the only movie that does decent for him anymore.
Colin Ferrel for instance I think could have been an action hero but he kind of went off the deep end in his career for a few years. His latest movies "In Bruge" and "7 Psychopaths" though have been excellent and he has another movie coming out this or next month which looks great too!
