Didnt WCW use a variation of the blue cage? I know that the Thunderdome cage was essentially a black version of the blue cage (only with a roof).

Mesh hurts when you slam into it, but not like "gunshot dead" pain that it is made out to be in the matches.
Playing centerfield with chainlink walls is my reference point on that.

Interesting how things have changed. I remember growing up smarks regularly criticizing the blue cage because it looked too silly and kiddy, like a jungle gym. They wanted the gritty, "more realistic" looking cyclone fence. that was me. They introduced the blue cage at WM2 and I wasnt sure what to make of it ...it looked like a tinker toe...i always thought nwa had better cage matches anyways...flair v garvin were legendary

In his KC Timeline shoot, George Steele remarked of Big Blue "That's not a cage, that's a ladder!"
