Call me crazy, but doesn't all this "get the win back" stuff kinda take the fun out of wrestling? When people obnoxiously refer to it as "Getting the win back" it does. But logic says two guys have a series of big matches will generally end in an even or close to even record. But the wannabe insider lingo just makes it sound stupider than it it.

If Punk is in the match, he'll take the pin so Rock can use the "you never beat me" excuse to get yet another main event match vs Cena at WM30. They can do that rematch even if Cena pins Rock clean in the middle one on one since they will be even with one win each. All they need to do is to make Rock go "IF THERE'S ONE THING I LEARNED IN HOLLYWOOD, IT'S THAT NO ONE REMEMBERS ACTS 1 AND 2. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE THIRD ACT" and that's all the justification they need for a third match. If Cena wins, they do a best out of 3. If Rock wins, then Cena goes Rock vs Austin on him. We can't escape.

Funnily enough, I can't remember the last third entry in a trilogy that I've enjoyed. Usually, the second's my favorite: Child's Play II, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, etc.

Probably not. It'd actually come off kinda awkward if he did now.
Besides, they've made it pretty clear he can beat him. He pinned Rock for about a 15 count with no ref after a GTS. He can complain about that and things can go on.
If the Punk/Taker newz is true, regarding them wanting to do the match but still being uncertain if it'll happen (which sounds completely plausible), they can now go right on to doing that if they want...or if it isn't looking good it'd be no problem working him into Cena/Rock at mania for a triple threat either.
Regardless of any of it, a heel holding the world title for more than a year doesn't need to get a win back when they drop the belt. Particularly these wins, since the couple losses to Rock did nothing to hurt him at all.

He's the heel; got his 434 days of comeuppance. Nope. Right. I enjoy the hell out of Punk and can't stand the Rock, but it is what it is, and that chapter is done. Toy Story 3, Nightmare on Elm Street part 3 and Back to the Future part 3, too. But then again... TMNT 3 Godfather part 3 Spider-Man 3 X-Men the Last Stand ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

No.
And with respect............good.
It puts Punk in a more (IMO) petty place if he does. "Getting a win back" is something I associate with guys like HHH, HBK, Cena and Hogan - all people who didn't need to get wins back when applicable; like there's some sense of ego that needs to be satisfied in the task.
His importance in the long run, I don't think, is harmed by dropping the belt to The Rock.

As long as they don't turn him into a midcarder then I don't care.
They have a guy that is a top level talent whether he is a heel or a face and I hope they continue to book him as such.
