Without spoilers, can some of your who've read the books re-assure me that good things should be coming this season? Maybe it's me, but so far I am not loving this season. Yes.

The TV show is screwing over the Stannis character.
He isnt meant to be all fleshed out and lusty. He's meant to be one dimensional, steadfast, stubborn and, most importantly, totally beholden to rules.
Cheating on your wife is a pretty big rule to break.

A million bloody time this. honestly, as far s quality goes I imagine this season is gonna turn out to be a stinker. Maybe I'm a pessimist who is hert in the bert about it not being faithful to muh books but I can totally see the casual TV audience be turned of by it.

I dunno, the casual tv audience loved the most recent season of The Walking Dead and it had some really messed up bits in it as well.

It was arguably implied he cheated but even if you believe he did he wasn't lusty and reckless about it. He was still very much an uptight stoic honorbound fool. I personally never believed he cheated because he never turned from his wife whom gave him only a gimped daughter when he desperately wanted an heir, and he held a hard grudge against Robert for his whore-mongering.

he was cheating on his wife in the book, too. Yeah, but he wasn't a pussy about it the whole thing. To play Devil's advocate, we only see him from Davos' perspective in the book at this point of Stannis.

Yeah, but he wasn't a pussy about it the whole thing. To play Devil's advocate, we only see him from Davos' perspective in the book at this point of Stannis. Well, that isn't totally true {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Book 5 sees him shown from a few other characters POV and he's still a stubborn bastard. For me, the series really doesnt seem to 'get' Stannis. Along with The Hound, it's likely he's likely one of the characters coming off worse for the series, while I will admit the series is making me appreciate Arya and Bran a lot more than the books did.

When I said "at this point in the books", I meant that where the TV show was, not the books, if you get me. I wasn't counting the chapters from the books that we haven't seen yet in the show.
