Since every other indy fed has an official thread, I guess it only makes sense to give everybody's favorite Ultraviolent Wrestling Federation some love... especially since I'm normally the only one commenting . So CZW returns to Flyer Skate Zone on March 9th with WANTED. Here is the card for the show... CZW World Heavyweight Championship MASADA (c) vs. 'Chainsaw' JOE GACY vs. 'Bulldozer' MATT TREMONT vs. CHRISTINA VON EERIE CZW Tag-Team Championship The Catalyst (DUSTIN RAYZ & ERIC RYAN) (c) vs. NOI's DEVON MOORE and LUCKY 13 CZW Wired TV Championship A.R. FOX (c) vs. AZRIEAL Pick Your Poison Match #1 SAMI CALLIHAN vs. ADAM COLE's Choice* Pick Your Poison Match #2 ADAM COLE vs. SAMI CALLIHAN's Choice* *Cole and Callihan will pick the other's opponent from the following 3 men: CZW Owner DJ Hyde, The Innovator of Violence Tommy Dreamer, and The Zombie Princess Jimmy Jacobs Campaign for a Better Combat Zone vs. OI4K SHANE STRICKLAND vs. BANDIDO JR. OI4K's NEVAEH vs. WSU World Champion JESSICKA HAVOK Not a bad looking show, Drake Younger and Danny Havoc will both be in Big Japan this they aren't booked. April 5th is WrestleCON but I already have a thread for updates on that On April 13, CZW will then return to the Flyer's Skate Zone with one of the most Prestigious Tournaments on the Independent Circuit: The Best of the Best. This will be the 12th tournament and each of the previous winners have gone on to various forms of success in the wrestling world. Here's a look at past winners for those who don't know. BOTB I: The W*NGER BOTB II: Trent Acid BOTB III: B-Boy BOTB IV: Sonjay Dutt BOTB V: Mike Quackenbush BOTB VI: Ruckus BOTB VII: Joker BOTB VIII: Sabian/BLK JEEZ BOTB IX: Ego Fantastico/Robert Anthony BOTB X: Adam Cole BOTB XI: Sami Callihan Who will join the prestigious list of winners for the tournament? Here's the list of competitors so far... Shane Hollister Shane "Swerve" Strickland Rich Swann CZW Jr Heavyweight and Wired TV Champion AR Fox The Chiva Kid From CZW's partners in Germany WXW, Tommy End From CZW's partners in the UK Fight Club: PRO MK McKinnan More to be announced as the event gets closer, but looks like another solid tourny from DJ. Also worth mentioning CZW will be returning to England, Germany, and Japan with the Triangle of Unity/Ultraviolence. CZW is also working to do it's own tour of Japan later this year and DJ is going to make another announcement about CZW later in the year, he already made the announcement in passing on the radio, but still has to make it official {Spoiler}CZW will be going to Mexico later this year

I'm really looking forward to both Wanted and BOTB. CZW was on a role most of last year with solid to great shows and although ascension let me down a little (I love Masada, but what the hell was that main event?) the 14th Anniversary show made up for it.
I hope the CZW Title doesn't change hands in a fatal 4 way but I feel Tremont will be getting it. Masada should really lose it in a epic singles match against Tremont if it was up to me.

newest name added to BOTB is... Caleb Konley and the crowd goes mild. As far as the CZW Championship goes I wouldn't mind seeing Tremont win it, I'm not a huge fan of Masada.

I think it's great that Jimmy Jacobs might go back to doing shows for CZW.
It seems like CZW is very regularly touring Japan. While this sounds great, I worry about the expense associated with flying guys across the world on such a frequent basis. Having said that, going on a tour in Mexico sounds like a solid plan unless the tours of Japan are already yielding good payoffs.
Is Best of the Best truly the premier tournament for technical/traditional wrestling on the indies? What about IWA-MS' Ted Petty Invitational tourney?

Well TPI kind of lost a lost of luster, but BOTB is up there. CZW going overseas actually gets a lot of money. They mostly just do joint shows with Big Japan, but there's a lot of interest for them to tour themselves. And they have a huge following in Europe. When they did their first double header with WXW in Germany, they outdrew the WXW show. DJ openly admitted that he was not expecting a good January show as a lot of regulars were booked elsewhere. He used the show more to look at potential new guys to bring in. And I put a lot of the blame on Joe Gacy, who to me should be nowhere near the world title.

CZW iPPVs are now going to be on RF Video. Company with bad rep hooks up with company with an even worse rep. Cannot see anything good coming out of this partnership.

I don't really blame Gacy for that match, I blame the booker. They only went like 5 minutes and it was a complete letdown; I thought they had a pretty good match together back at redemption and was expecting a pretty good blow off.
I didn't hate Ascension, it just felt like a bit of a let down due to the past few shows. Not saying it ws bad and I thought they did a pretty good job of showing off new talents - but it was still disappointing.

It's more cause RF Video has the production equipment CZW needs. And unless your name is Derek Sabato, CZW's rep has really improved under DJ. Kind of figured DJ would go with RF video for Production based on how much RF has been doing with CZW recently (Releasing the Training Seminars as the In the Ring Series, following Sunny around for the On The Road shoot).

Didn't Feinstein originally want CZW to be what ROH was? Back in the day CZW was his biggest mover of tapes after ECW died and tried to buy into it and make into the super Indy that ROH would become. But Zandig either didn't understand the concept or just didn't wanna give control to RF. And thus Ring of Honor was born.
Or am I just full of shit?

I know there were disagreements when ROH first opened up due to style differences and Feinstein not wanting Ultraviolent stuff with ROH and it somewhat offended Zandig but they worked out their differences when XPW decided to be sleazy. I think Zandig wanted to do somewhat of an Invasion angle, mainly because they ended up doing one with NWA Wildside not long after.

AR Fox has been booked down in Mexico with DTU and he's issued an open challenge for anybody to take on him for his Wired TV title. I don't know if that means some DTU boys will be going up to the Combat Zone or not.
I'm 99.9% sure that DTU is the company that is helping to book CZW in Mexico, and I think they're gonna be part of the International Tour this year with Fight Club Pro, WXW, and Big Japan (can't call it the Triangle of Ultraviolence with 5 companies. Guess we can call in the Pentagon of Ultraviolence). Drake Younger worked for DTU a few years ago, and I know DJ has tried to get them as part of the international tour the last 2 years it just didn't work out. Looks like it will work out this year though.
Speaking of Drake, he defeated Jaki Numazawa in the main event of Big Japan's most recent show. He's pretty pumped about it on twitter. It was a lightube cage match.

Show was really fun.
Couple other notes....
Jonathan Gresham has been announced as the latest BOTB participant.
Tommy Dreamer will now be a regular for CZW and will be helping out behind the scenes. I've heard some rumors that Tommy may become a teacher at the school. He had been trying to start a House of Hardcore school, but I dunno how that is going
look like Alex Reynolds may be in BOTB as well

confirming more names for BOTB. As mentioned earlier... these 2 are in... Jonathan Gresham Alex Reynolds We also have two other names confirmed... Alex Colon... and FINALLY... Uhaa Nation Good choices. Colon has really been on a tear for about a year. Gresham has improved a lot since going to Germany. Reynolds is solid, and Uhaa was gonna be built huge last year but had his injury. So for review. The BOTB lineup so far is... AR Fox Rich Swann Shane Strickland Shane Hollister Tommy End Chiva Kid MK McKinnan Caleb Konley Jonathan Gresham Alex Colon Alex Reynolds Uhaa Nation So that's probably the lineup as outside of 2 years where there were 16 competitors, there have been 12 booked (13 on a couple of occasions due to injuries or travel issues with another team). So probably means we'll go with the normal format; 4 triple threat matches in the first round. So there are potentially really fun match-ups there. And as mentioned in results, Sami and AC will have their FINAL match against each other in CZW. DJ Hyde is still preaching in interviews that both will be on TV within a year, so this may be their swan songs on the indies

so I checked out the ippv replay as well. I know a lot of people don't like RF Video but the production for their first ever IPPV was the best I've seen for the indies.
WANTED was not as good as 14 (which was uploaded on to Dailymotion for anybody interested in seeing it) but it was a very fun show. AR Fox had the MOTN for the 2nd show in a row, this time with Azreal.
Next stop, WRESTLECON
