Who in the late 80's/early 90s loved wrestling on ESPN? Not until years later did I realize the WCCW that was on ESPN was replays.. I tuned in every week and loved it so much..

My first exposure to guys like Sean Waltman (who wrestled there as Lightning Kid), Jerry Lynn, Booker T and Stevie Ray (the Ebony Experience) and a great place for other guys (Eddie Gilbert, Makhan Singh/Norman the Lunatic) to get a fresh start, so to speak. I was also a fan of the team of "Rugged" Rod Price and "Hollywood" John Tatum.

And I echo your sentiments of Lynn, the Ebony Experience, etc. Another fond memory is Barry Horowitz doctoring a scale to get into the Light Heavyweight Title picture.

It was really cool to see the Von Erichs in Texas where they were gods, Bruiser Brody, the early careers of the Undertaker, Godfather, Cactus Jack, Steve Austin, X-Pac, Raven etc. My all time favorite was Iceman King Parsons though, I'm pretty sure that I remember him using Roody Poo before the Rock was out of high school.
Territories are greatly missed.

Mad Mike Davis, dude my dad loved that guy. One of the best crazy guy gimmicks of wrestling history, "I'm not CRAZZZAAAY!"
I grew up in south Texas so I got world class on local TV on the weekends. Espn had them every afternoon(awesome!)
AWA...liked it in 89&89 but when it started to slide down hill I dropped that like a hot plate of terds

I, like a lot of other fans, almost assumed the WWF was the only promotion when I first started watching, even though I remember brief glimpses of the CWA prior to that. Then I discovered the AWA on Friday nights and was consuming everything wrestling related I could find.
Seeing WCCW on weekday afternoons was really cool, though I never got to see anything of their later years, except for what I read in magazines.
By the time Global came on, I had stopped watching wrestling and didn't really get back into it until 96 or so.

AWA,World Class, and GWF on ESPN were a staple of my youth. I would watch them every evening after school. Good times.

I watched them. I think the GWF proved that you could have too much of a good thing. A lot of the guys were instant channel changers.
Then I just stopped watching, especially when I'd realize I already seen this match or that crappy promo from Manny "WTF" Villalobos.

Villalobos was a Mexican that crossed the border and went from jobber status to winning some matches(I think that he beat Fernandez once which set him off) then something happened to his house(tornado?) so there was a real sympathetic story about how he and his family were living in his car, so Manny Fernandez trashed his car, antagonized his family etc. It was hilarious for all of the wrong reasons. I don't even remember if he ever got revenge on Fernandez

Tugboat Taylor's babyface turn to save his son Chaz!
Maniac Mike Davis eliminating himself from a battle royal ... and later interfering in the Chaz Taylor/Steven Dane(?) "bungee match" and coming back with a moon rock!
Barry "The Winner" Horowitz, Light Heavyweight champion!
The classic Lightning Kid-Jerry Lynn feud!
The Dark Patriot spraying ink in the Partiot's eyes, which somehow turns "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert into the company's top face!
Man, I miss the GWF. I hope whoever owns the rights to it releases it on DVD at some point.

I know you can find some GWF matches on those cheap bargin bin collections from the early 2000s, such as "Booker T: The Early Years" and "Cactus Jack: The Early Years"
