I don't like Davey, but he will sink or swim very quickly. I don't believe he has the right attitude, not only for WWE, but for wrestling in general. Personally, I don't think he even likes pro wrestling, he just happens to be good at it.

Richards is strange.
He's clearly a guy who isolates himself from the wrestling community at large, or at least used to. He talked about how he "has no place in professional wrestling" and said that the fans only care about him if he has a five star match. It makes me wonder if he really even looks into what fans are saying about him. The actual opinion seems to be he should relax a little, and when he's just being a jerk who doesn't care about five star matches he's pretty fun as a swaggering heel. There's a big divide between what he THINKS people want and what they actually demonstrate wanting.
I never enjoyed Richards more than I did in the No Remorse Corps as an angry, but downtrodden by his friends, heel. A guy who could kick your head in and flip fans off but also sadly asked girls if they wanted to stay and watch the bags with him. He was perfectly hatable and loveable at the same time.

No problem with this, if true.
Adam Cole is talented as hell, and deserves a shot.
Davey will go one of two ways:
- He'll lose his s****y attitude and step up, becoming moderately to highly successful
or
- He'll piss everybody off with his s*****y attitude, and either leave or get fired.
I don't hope he fails, but I do expect it.

Have to laugh at those sources. Says a lot when even DJ Hyde tries claiming Cole's going to WWE and it doesn't happen, and he KNOWS Cole well. to be fair, all DJ has said is that he expects things to happen in the few months after Mania. He never gave a set date.

If Davey Richards gets a shot, I expect whatever ego he has to get squashed very quickly. Perhaps being around more experienced professionals might be a positive influence on him. I wonder if most of his douchery is an extension of being best buds/training partners with Tony Kozina. Even if a WWE tenure doesn't work out, I'd like to think he could learn from it and better himself.
I know people just want him to fail hard for past transgressions, but maybe he just needs an environment where he can mature and get his work reigned in a bit.

Yessss, I was hoping this would start getting used around here! Anyway, it says names guys. This doesn't mean the actual wrestlers are going to be coming to WWE, they're just trademarking their names. Patrick Halliwell, your new name is Davey Richards.

Why is everyone upset about Davey? Sounds like everyone thinks he's going to come in and dethrone Triple H or something. If anything people who dislike him should be ecstatic to watch him be humbled.

Davey did say he was going to Connecticut a few weeks ago so maybe he was telling the truth for once

Whats everyones problem with this Davey Richard fella then? It's a combination of things. One is that his matches are often nasty overkill fests. Tons of huge, brutal spots that would of borderline killed most dude's and attempts to ape Japanese style matches without any of the historical or character contexts. You know when you hear the stereotype of ROH wrestling being that it's all big moves with very little thought? Much of that is Davey's style. For example, his Final Battle title match with Eddie Edwards included a double stomp to the floor through a table, a dragon suplex off the top rope, a suplexplex spot where they rolled to their feet and then suplexed each other over the top rope...and then the finish was a bunch of kicks to the head. I'm a HUGE fan of Davey, but I can understand why his detractors wouldn't like his style. Another problem is that he's perceived as the main reason for one of the worst periods of ROH. They tried to go in an MMA influenced direction with him and Edwards, with the addition of Dan Severn to the feud and having a "Fight Team" sort of atmosphere with Richards/Edwards/O'Reilly/Kozina for a brief time. It didn't work out that well. It just wasn't very interesting. Outside the ring, he comes across like a whiny jerk a lot of the time. There was an incident in Ohio or Iowa or one of those states where a promoter tried to change their deal on them and Davey threatened to beat him up. Then, he ended up stealing money from the guy. He sent it back after the backlash, says he has no intentions to keep it but there's no reason to believe him. On that same set of shows, longtime Richards ally and trainer Tony Kozina beat the everloving crap out of a sixteen year old kid for saying something he didn't like during a promo. Totally shot on the kid and acted totally unprofessional. Davey's never taken a stand and told Kozina he was being a moron. Oh, and he did a lot of stupid quasi shoot stuff a lot of us hated: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6rbb4y_wREAgain, I love Davey. I love his huge, overkill style and his badass aura. I can totally get why someone wouldn't.

I thought this would be about Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis.
But unless/until Dave Meltzer confirms this, I won't believe it.

I could see Richards' WWE tenure ending up like Low-Ki's
I'm surprised that WWE didn't go after Elgin or Ciampa instead. Both of those guys I could definitely see in WWE someday

Both of those guys I could definitely see in WWE someday If I remember right, Ciampa had a tenure in developmental and didn't really become a "name" on the indies until after his developmental stint similar to Kenny Omega and Brian Cage. Elgin, while appearing smaller in WWE would still be a beast.

6 feet, 245 pounds according to the wiki. That looks about right to look at him.

I've disliked Davey since 2006, but he can put on a decent match, I hope he does well if this is true. Cole will be fine.
