Josh Barnett vs Roy Nelson has been set as the main event for UFC fight night 78. I'm so ready for this! Barnett is my favorite current UFC fighter and it's been over a year since he fought. Nelson is a logical opponent for him and won I think current Barnett can beat. Well he looked to be in decent shape for Metamoris 6 so yeah he should be able to out grapple Nelson. Though one does wonder that if Big Country loses this one will he giving his walking papers.

I'm torn. I want Barnett to win because I've always been a fan of his. On the other hand, I really don't want Dana White to get the satisfaction of releasing Nelson considering how much of a dick Dana has been to him since he started.

I see Nelson winning, if mainly because Barnett has been quite a bit more susceptible to getting KOed in his career than Roy has.

It won't happen, but Roy's Jiu Jitsu against Barnett and his catch wrestling background would make for a really intriguing chess match on the ground. Unfortunately, what we're likely to get is Roy slowly plodding forward trying to land that bazooka of an overhand right without doing anything to really set it up and Barnett landing a few shots before moving out of range.

I see it this way: Roy Nelson is on borrowed time. As you mentioned Dana doesn't like him and more importantly if he loses he will have lost 5 of his last 6 fights. Even if he beats Barnett then loses the next one, a 5-2 record isn't much better for last 7 fights. The only thing that can save Nelson is if he goes on a decent winning streak even if that streak is just 3 fights. I like the guy, but given the horrible tunnel vision he has developed around his knockout punch, I just don't see it happening.

Eh Barrnet has only been KOed twice which is the same amount of times that Big Country has been KOed in his MMA career. And honestly I really don't rate Roy's chances in this fight because all of his loses in the UFC prove that if he can't land his big overhand right he is totally screwed.

Honestly, I'd be more interested if it were taking place at Metamoris(Hey, a guy can dream)

For those who didn't watch it this weekend, Bellator ended up looking totally bush league by having their to strip their middle weight champion Brandon Halsey of his title because he couldn't make weight for his first title defense against Kendall Grove.

I think any of the big companies would have done the same though.

Says more about Halsey then it does Bellator.

Looks like Cerrone is getting first crack at RDA.
Knowing how much he prefers to stay active, wonder if he'll wait for dos Anjos to be cleared now that the title is on the line.

Cerrone himself has injuries he needs to take care of so he'll wait. I'm not completely convinced he will, but yeah he should probably rest. Still, I LOVE how prolific Cerrone is and wish more fighters were like him. It's impossible not to respect him at this point.

Michael Bisping vs. Thales Leites is the main event of UFC Scotland.
And Dana White confirmed Dos Anjos vs. Cerrone II.

Bellator fighter Mike Richman has been suspended by the CSAC for TWO years following a failed steroid test.
Looks like the athletic commissions are cracking down, wonder if the big names will get that kind of punishment.

Looks like the athletic commissions are cracking down, wonder if the big names will get that kind of punishment. The head of the California State Athletic Commission(whose name escapes me at the moment) has kind of been at the forefront with this. Doing both blood and urine tests for fighters, stiff penalties etc.

The UFC is returning to Canada on August 23rd with a Fight Night card in Saskatoon of all places. Max Holloway-Charles Oliveira will be the main event.
