People may joke but this thread is the biggest non Impact thread on this board by far so there is definitely interest in who it could be.
If it's eomeone big it could really help build TNA up.

Uh... half of the responses are jokes, and several of the posts are from the same people... I wouldn't necessarily call that interest in who it is.
also the TNA twitter page has more responses as it's at 9 pages while this is only at 7... not to mention the Knockout pictures which is at like 12.

If it's eomeone big it could really help build TNA up. There isn't anyone left capable of doing that. Besides, TNA's relied on the "Oh, if we can get SoAndSo, everything will come together!" philosophy for way too long.

I mean after revealing that Manu has signed a contract, the ratings are bound to improve.

Indeed... from off the top of my head there was... tv a better tv slot two hours Kurt Angle Jeff Hardy Hulk Hogan Monthly PPV Monday Nights Thursday Nights ditching Russo going live leaving the impact zone. ditching some of the PPVs. and I'm sure there are tons I missed... granted many of those were good moves in and of themselves but they look for the Quick fix that will let them beat the WWE when the fact is there really is not going to be a quick fix, they're going to have to work to make up ground since the WWE has had like 30 years of building it's national audience and 61 years to build it's Northeast audience.

Yeah it seems like the "beating the 'E" mentality is long gone, as far as what I see when I look at TNA in it's current state? It's a company who has all the talent they could want and the potential to become something bigger than they are and right now they're just trying their damn hardest to grow and unleash that potential. I think the signing is going to be someone who they passed up on before, I think they've looked over all their past decisions and thought along the lines of "we should take this chance because if we don't, we'll never know."

It will be interesting to see how Dixie defines the term big name. Name 5 free agents that would qualify as a "Big Free Agent Signing" at this moment?
Maybe JoMo, anyone else?

If JoMo is then Batista, Masters, MVP, Shelton and Charlie Haas all definitely count. Then you've got your long shots and old guys like Lita, Goldberg, Nash, Sid Justice and others. Then there's Christian who could very well have been sitting out his contract seen as he's been out forever. If JoMo is a big free agent signing then any one of those guys would be too.

If it's eomeone big it could really help build TNA up. They've gotten Sting, Hogan, Kevin Nash, Mick Foley, RVD, Angle, and Jeff Hardy, and they haven't done anything to take TNA to the next level. What big name could take TNA to the next level? Okay but Sting, Hogan, Nash, Angle and Hardy DID help. Nobody even knew TNA until Sting came along. Nash helped out in 04-05 to solidify the ompany, Angle was their first big signing from WWE and he did phenomenal business for them. Hogan has helped them get on the road and draw everywhere and Hardy is kind of their "guy" they can rely on these days and he's a big draw in his own right. It will be interesting to see how Dixie defines the term big name. Name 5 free agents that would qualify as a "Big Free Agent Signing" at this moment? Maybe JoMo, anyone else? Easy: Batista (Probably one of WWE's biggest stars of the new era. Could see him being open to a TNA run because of his film career. They would allow him to take time off but WWE wouldn't) Bobby Lashley (A massive missed opportunity by the world of professional wrestling. Was popular in WWE would love to see him become TNA's Goldberg) Chris Masters (Some may scoff at Masters being a "big name" but definitely one of the biggest free agents out there currently that the indies are actively using. Is in good shape and is a memorable character. Could see him easily slotting into TNA to team with Sting and Angle against Aces and Eights at Bound For Glory) Goldberg (Saw a video a couple years back where he spoke of making a return to wrestling and how he'd be open to it. He gave an estimated time which I believe was early 2012 but he's apparently open to a return. Maybe TNA threw an assload of money at him and he's the guy) Jeff Jarrett (Apparently a free agent currently. I doubt it's him since seeing Jeff in TNA wouldn't be a massive surprise but could be a possibility) John Morrison (Allegedly after a WWE return but a short stop in TNA would probably be helpful to him. Don't know if WWE would like it but he's definitely a possibility) Kevin Nash (Probably making occasional appearances with WWE for the rest of his career but he has friends in TNA and likes Dixie, who knows? I'd like to see him, Sting and Angle take on Aces and Eights also) MVP (One of the more likely candidates. Still memorable from his WWE run and could fit into TNA easily for a feud with AJ after BFG) Then take into account that it could be a woman and you can include Kelly Kelly in there. Some people are speculating that Rey Jr is off contract also and there is a massive possibility that WWE got rid of Rey due to wellness policy or injuries. There's 10 that it could possibly be. I'm sure there's one or two I may be forgetting but all of those guys could make a big wave in the wrestling world if they signed and if used right even Kelly Kelly could probably do good business for TNA.

Am I the first one to say Rey Misterio? BFG takes place in San Diego and the voice at the end of that promotional video sounded like him.

The length and views for this thread more got to with Dixie annual "Huge News" announcement and people making humorous and serious guesses. At this point, it doesn't matter who TNA get; they are going fall into the same slump like others who can before them.

As others said, TNA has probably one of the best roster in wrestling history. They have pretty big names already. And yet made no real traction. The "big name signing whose going to change everything" has been heard so many times, I lost count.

Dear God. The fact that over half of those people are in their 40's shows what a bad state the wrestling industry is in right now when it comes to creating new stars. I hardly think bringing in another WCW Nostalgia act or WWE Midcarder is going to make any kind of a difference. What TNA desperately needs is to create their own stars so that they can stand out as a promotion, and unfortunately the only stars they have created (AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, James Storm) are all in their mid-30's now and have done nearly everything there is to do in the company. Whoever this 'big name' is, its sure to be a disappointment that will make no impact what-so-ever.
