Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. He was great in the Hart Foundation, sucked as a singles guy. Came to post this. In tag matches, Neidhart is phenomenal as a dangerous shithead heel or a tank wrecking machine face (especially off the hot tag). But as singles guy, he's horribly boring and unimpressive. Hey, I came in to post the Anvil too. I'll add that without Bret, he got bored with whatever role he had, on or off screen. Quick. From stories about him (several from Bret, no less) I got the impression that he was just collecting a paycheck post-Hart Foundation, and even then he wasn't employed steadily with the 'E ever again after his injury in late '91.

Not a huge fan but Kofi Kingston is really decent in a tag team but when he's in singles he seems so stale. Air Boom and Kofi/Truth were decent teams that could still have another run.
Kane is another one, tags teams give him something to do other than "mystery opponent" or turning heel or face every 5 months. The other guy in his teams usually get a rub and he's just less boring. The only team I thought he sucked in was with RVD.

I thought I'd keep this thread going. Another wrestler that came to mind is Buff Bagwell. Loved his tag teams with The Patriot and 2 Cold and kinda liked Viscous and Delicious. But, Buff by himself had me changing the channel the second he showed up.

James Storm for the most part is pretty good but he has seemed almost lost in the ring since Beer Money and AMW

Dudleys LOD Briscoes and of course... the Bushwackers In regards to Buh Buh/Bully, he has done incredible as a single in the past few years. But, certainly in the end his TNA work will not be remembered in any form compared to the Dudley's work.

Matt and Jeff Hardy were a great team. Edge and Christian were much better as a team.

Love the Motor City Machine Guns, hate Chris Sabin's recent singles run.

Hernandez. He's a really fun tag team wrestler but can't really carry his own weight as a singles wrestler. My first thought as well. It took me a long time to come to terms with this because Hernandez was a huge favorite of mine as a result of his work with Homicide in LAX. For the longest time I was behind him purely as the after effect of that. But eventually I realized he just wasn't much good on his own. Way too bad. Though to be honest I haven't really enjoyed any of his pairings other than Homicide all that much either. He's alright with Chavo, but Mexican America was terrible and I didn't like him much with Morgan either.

Few others off the top of my head are Devon* (I LOVE him when he's with Bubba to the point where I actually liked Devon MORE when they were together, until Ray got the chance to split off and turn into Bully Ray where now I don't care much for Devon but love Bully Ray).
*I started watching wrestling during their TNA run.
Both members of Cryme Tyme fit. I loved them as a team but I can't bring myself to care about JTG anymore and while I liked Shad's solo push more than most I wish they had never been split up.
Michelle McCool! Hated her with a passion until Laycool entertained me.

Bubba Ray Dudley. Without Devon he looks out of place and any time I see him with the World Title belt I giggle.

Jim Neidhart, Stevie Ray, and Mongo. Stevie Ray and Mongo were practically identical in terms of build, size, and wrestling "ability".
