So, seriously, I've got to be the annoying Frog here, why is it that so many American people seem to believe that trying to kill people is a perfectly reasonable reaction to a potential trespassing, without even trying to find out the person's intention? What's wrong with calling the police and due process? It's one thing to try and defend your property but I don't think your driveway is worth innocent people's lives, and sadly stuff like that seems to get reported fairly frequently, all too often resulting in casualties. Well, it depends. This woman, for example, is just a crazy bitch. But like if you wake up and find a dude in your house who looks hostile, and you don't want you, your spouse or your kids hurt and you can drop him, well, you probably will. I get that, but I'm always surprised by how often I hear stories of someone opening fire on someone else because they were in the general vicinity of their property. Is the nutjob-to-regular-person ratio really that high?

This just seems like a case of an isolated crazy person

Is the nutjob-to-regular-person ratio really that high? Country of 300+ million The 1% of the 1% of the 1% is still 300 people (maybe I missed a math step in there, I'm sorry I'm tired). We don't get anywhere near 300 stories a year like this. So yeah, dumb shit happens, but let's not start thinking the ratio of crazy to non-crazy is anything close to resembling something not completely one-sided towards normal.

But....you technically do live in the South. So do I. Weird as it may be, the United States Census Bureau counts Oklahoma and Texas in the South. Nuts to that. I guess I can consider OK as a plain state with KS and NE, and TX is its own region, but we both know that we are NOT Southern states! Okie is closer in culture to Texas then Nebraska and Kansas. Culturally, Northern LA, OK, TX and Western Arky are more tied to each other than any other areas.

Which is why those four areas apparently make up the bulk of the South Central region of the US(yeah I didn't know we had a South Central area, either). So just so we are clear, OK and TX are part of the South, South Central, and Southwest. Yeah.......... Kinda makes sense though considering how the cultures in these two states borrow a lot from the surrounding areas, especially the food. Mmmmmmm, deep fried Southern food mixed with Mexican cuisine.....*drool*
