There was one pop album I listened to endlessly in like 1993: OMG! IT'S PRE-N*SYNC JC SANCHEZ! ALSO...YOUNG RICK JAMES??

There were a lot of tv stars releasing pop singles. Not just Joey Lawrence, but I also remember Jamie Walters and The Heights (one could also bring up Will Smith, except for the fact that he was already established as a rapper before fresh prince came out).

Ah hell, while we're at it, here's a few more I thought of. I recall all of them playing on Top 40 style radio stations, which is about as good a qualifier for "pop" as you could ask for. I'd throw up some Youtube vids but they'd be mobile. Look 'em up for a trip down memory lane like all the rest in this thread. "Steal My Sunshine" - Len "Blue" - Eiffel65 "Be My Lover" - La Bouche "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen" - Baz Luhrmann "Like the Deserts Miss the Rain" - Everything But the Girl "The Impression That I Get" - The Mighty Mighty Bosstones "I Know" - Dionne Farris "Kiss From a Rose" - Seal "Barbie Girl" - Aqua "Tubthumping" - Chumbawamba So yes, there was plenty of pop in the 90s. It just didn't all sound so homogenized like today. If we include the Bosstones we have to include every other ska band (and ska is pop, it is kind of the point),along with every pop punk band, thus this list ends up way longer.

I wasn't sure whether to include TMMB since they strike me as a borderline case, but I went with the "Top 40 radio station play" gut instinct after all. My memory is fuzzy on release dates and such, but it was all off the top of my head.

Here's a couple of jamz for you OP. Hey! This is a mid-90s thread. Make sure you replace the letter s with the letter z in plural form. I'll correct your mistake this time around, but don't make me catch you do it again. Semi-related note. That Joey Lawrence video is nostalgia overload. Seeing girls in baggy jeanz rocking flannel was right around the time I hit puberty so I always had a soft spot for that style of clothing which of course seems weird in hindsight because they never showed any skin.

My mistake, I didn't think the onslaught of Z's in place of S's didn't come until later in the 90's. Embarassingly enough, I have both Joey Lawrence and Jeremy Jordan's full length albums. And I still listen to a few tracks on occasion way more than I'd care to admit. I was 11 in 1993 and was fully immersed into Pop/R&B. Color Me Badd, Bobby Brown, Hi-Five, Tevin Campbell, etc. all were in heavy rotation in my preteen years.

Jennifer Love Hewitt also sang in the past. I have her albums, believe it or not, even though her last one was released in 2002. Also, if you count R&B as pop, then they are a fine example as there were R&B groups in the mid-90s, as well as young solo acts like Quindon and Monteco, both of whom were affiliated with Immature. There was also a young R&B singer named J'son, who later on went to be part of an R&B group called 3rd Storee. Also, there was a girl singer named Lina Santiago who had an album that came out in 1996 and had a couple of singles.

I took this thread as more of what was around in 93-95 since he got into music in 96, of course he knows about the Spice Girls, Oasis, etc. Ace of base pretty much cums it up best though I think.
