fw91 and Roxie Daggers awaited the Judges' decision anxiously. The Host did not deign to talk to them during this time, his mind seemingly a million miles away. The three stood inside a strange chamber, walls austure and the entire room featureless save for a simple wooden door with "FAN Idol Season VIII" etched onto a placard set on the door's front. Without out warning, a high pitch laugh emanated from the room and, with a loud turn of what sounded like cogs, the door popped upon and ANONYMOUS GM stepped out of the room. ANONYMOUS GM: Simply Marvelous! Simply Marvelous, Mr. Tyger! Now that is a prize worth playing for! The finalist wore a hawai'ian t-shirt, lai, and sandals but her contestants could tell she was well-rested and ready for the finale, a ukulele in her hand and a fresh mask on her face. ANONYMOUS GM: Good luck, fw, Daggers! ANONYMOUS GM strummed away on her ukulele for a moment, humming to herself, and the Host snapped to attention and addressed the two remaining semi-finalists. KingOrangeTyger: Ah yes, the Finale. Behind that door lies the prize that all seventeen contestants of this, the eighth Season of FAN Idol, have played for. ANONYMOUS GM, by clinching her berth in the Finale, was given the opportunity to view the prize that awaits one of you musical savants. Looking at her determined face, as much as one can view with that mask on, our ANONYMOUS GM seems set on winning her third FAN Idol Season and bringing home the prize. However, I know that fw91 or Roxie Daggers will be formidable competition for ANONYMOUS GM in the Finale. Far more lies behind that door than a prize, as the two finalists will meet face to face with their toughest challenge yet. fw91. Roxie Daggers, please step forward. The Host held a creme colored scroll in his hand that contain the Results for Round 33: Sound Check- The Last Rehearsal. KingOrangeTyger: Contestants, I am proud to see the musical acumen that you two fine individuals displayed throughout this Season. You have survived 32 Rounds of the stiffest competition this Game has ever seen, successfully navigating every twist and turn that I have thrown at you. Two formidable contestants have, I hope, joined the ranks of FAN Idol regulars and will bring us many more wonderful moments in the future. Whoever moves on will ensure that the Finale will be one for the ages. I respect both Contestants musical taste and I applaud their performance this Season. Regardless of what happens now, we are looking at two amazing players who have helped, both in the competition and out of it, to make this one to remember. And now, for the results for Round 33, which asked our contestants to choose 4 songs of their choice that did not appear on the Restricted Artists list. The first match-up saw Roxie Daggers choose Led Zeppelin's gentle That's the Way, written at Bron-Yur Cottage located in Wales while fw91 brought us Love, Reign o'er Me by the Who, concerning Jimmy, Quadrophenia's main character, finding spiritual redemption during a rain shower. Who won between this battle of British Rock Heavyweights? Earning 3 votes to 2, the first victory goes to... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} fw91!!! Incredible job using a stunning track from one of the greatest albums of all time! fw91 up, 1-0, the point total at fw91 3 to Roxie Dagger's 2.
Let's skip a few match-ups and move on to the fourth showdown, shall we? Continuing to look at stormy weather for inspiration, fw91 decided to use Live's Lightning Crashes, a track New York magazine declared to be "deeply mystical". Roxie Daggers countered with Disarm by the Smashing Pumpkins, a melancholic song that listeners have interpreted to be about abortion, physical abuse, though vocalist and Smashing Pumpkin mastermind Billy Corgan has stated the song was about his shaky relationship with his parents. Which of these two gripping, alternative rock hits did the judges favor? Taking this match-up 4 votes to 1 is... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Roxie Daggers!!! The song that you chose may be haunting and sad but it happily earned you a victory for this match-up. The score is tied, 1-1, with the point total in favor of Roxie Daggers with 6 to fw91's 4 points!!!
The third match-up saw fw91 employing London based Welsh alternative rock band The Joy Formidable's contemplative tune about a life set in stone A Heavy Abacus, while Roxie Daggers countered with alternative rock/ ska chanteuse Lily Allen's love letter to the high and lows of old London town, LDN. The songs both had complex messages tinged with somberness but which song succeeded in moving our judges' hearts? Closely getting the nod, 3 votes to 2 is... {Spoiler}{Spoiler} fw91!!! An ancient device to calculate sums, the abacus adds up this Round and shows just how much closer you are to the Finale!!! fw91 is up 2 to 1 on Roxie Daggers, while the point total favors Roxie Daggers, with 9 points to fw91's 7!!!
fw91. Roxie Daggers. We have arrived at the final song. The results of this showdown will determine who faces ANONYMOUS GM in Round 34. This has been an extraordinarily close battle, worthy of all the incredible music you have both given us this Season. Congratulations. fw91 sent us Canadian mega star and empowered woman extraordinaire Alanis Morissete's list of demands, All I Really Want while Roxie Daggers threw down with the electrifying, gothic tinged Drumming Song by Florence + The Machine. Winning this showdown in a clean sweep, 5-0 is... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}
Roxie Daggers!!! You blew us all away with that breathtaking choice!!!
That means the contestants are tied at 2 match-ups a piece!!! The contestant that will move on to the Finale will be decided on total votes from the Judges.
Earning 13 votes to 7 and facing off against ANONYMOUS GM in the Finale is...
ROXIE DAGGERS!!! Amazing performance! As always, you truly let loose with unbelievable music this Round. Congratulations! We'll see you in the Finale!!!
fw91, I'm sorry, but that means that you will not be Season VIII's Fan Idol. However, you had an unbelievable run this Season, hanging in there through thick and thin and dominating during stretches of the game. It's been wonderful having you as a contestant and your performance in this showdown illustrated how much you brought to this Game. Your battle with Roxie Daggers was as thrilling as any Round FAN Idol has ever seen. I hope we see you again in future Seasons, as you are a formidable player and a great person to talk with.
Please, everyone give it up for fw91 and his amazing Season!!! Judge's Choices: {Spoiler}{Spoiler} fw91- 7 votes, 2 winning songs
1. Love, Reign O’er Me- The Who- 3 Major Brad, Orange, Widow’s Peak
2. All I Really Want- Alanis Morissete- 0

Damn. I had a great run and it was a blast, but man All I Really Want getting SHUT OUT to what I thought was an inferior song (yeah that did nothing for me) Hell I thought that was the only sure thing I had in the showdown.
But I aint leaving on sour grapes, good luck to Roxie and Anonymous GM. I take pride in being the last man standing and never being in a sing-off.

Looking at the sheer number of songs on that list, it's crazy that anyone could survive for this long. I knew that we'd end up with a lot of songs but this is pretty crazy. Fantastic show, fw91, and I hope you sign up for next Season, whenever that is. Bravo.

I thought it was funny how well our songs wound up being matched. I'm excited to go to the finals! In a way, Allison Reynolds and I are teamed up after all haha. Also, I'm *dying* to know what song pegasuswarrior was talking about.

I'm going to do the write-up (which I think I'll have a lot of fun doing, heh) when I post the Finale's songs. However, I want to reveal what the Finale entails. So, Contestants, Judges, ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers in particular, Round 34 is... Round 34: Finale- ANONYMOUS GM vs. Roxie Daggers ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers will choose 8 songs, 5 to fulfill categories selected by the Judges and 3 of their own choice, from artists not on the restricted artist list True Acoustic (Selected by Judge J)
Choose 1 song from a band or solo artist that is performed solely with acoustic instruments. No electric instruments are permitted in this performance, so no faux-acoustic sets that have one or two musicians plugged in. The song cannot be performed a cappella.Ear Worm (Selected by Judge Widow's Peak)Choose 1 song that you believe is the catchiest, most easily stuck-in-your-head song possible. Like all categories, any genre, professional level, time period, etc. is legal. Songs from 2013 (Selected by Judge Orange)Choose 1 song released for the first time in the year 2013. The song may have been performed in late 2012 but it must have been released some time this year. Goku's Eating a Cloud: Your Argument is Invalid (Selected by Judge Major Brad)
Choose 1 song that references a Fictional Character from another entertainment Genre: film, books, tv series, cartoons, legends and folklore, etc.
and Synth-phony (Selected by Judge Pegasus Warrior)
Choose 1 song that uses that wonderful piece of musical tech, the synthesizer. Can be from any time period (as the instrument dates back, in some form, to the late 50s), genre, and level of professionalism. You will also be asked to select 3 songs to serve as Free Choice songs. You cannot use the following artists that have been used twice before this Season: {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Restricted Artists AC/DC Alanis Morissette The Barenaked Ladies The Beach Boys The Beatles and Solo Bands Beck Billy Joel Bruce Springsteen Coldplay Creedence Clearwater Revival David Bowie Eric Clapton Florence + The Machine Foo Fighters Janis Joplin Jimmy Fallon Johnny Cash The Joy Formidable Kanye West Katamari Damacy Soundtrack The Killers Led Zeppelin Lilly Allen Live MGMT Macklemore Marina and the Diamonds Matt & Kim Nine Inch Nails/Trent Reznor Ozzy Osbourne Pearl Jam Prince Queen Ray Charles Rob Zombie Social Distortion T.Rex Talking Heads Tegan and Sara Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers The Who
Scoring will follow the same format as Round 32. ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers will select their 8 songs and place them in the order in which they want us to listen to them. This is of the utmost importance because, like Round 32, they will be judged against each other in a head-to-head format. Due to this arrangement, songs from different categories will most likely go against each other, so Roxie's Earworm song could potentially go against ANONYMOUS's True Acoustic Song or one of her Free Choice songs. The songs will be labeled in accordance to what categories they fulfill and judges have the right to judge them according to how well they follow that category's guidelines. The judges will vote for which song they prefer in each match up instead of using points and a song wins a match-up if it earns 3 or more votes. For each match-up win, that contestant will receive 1 point; a contestant will win if they earn 5 or more points/win 5 or more head-to-head showdowns. There will also be a public vote of which song list complied by ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers was better that will start as soon as the Finale songs are posted and the judges receive the songs. That open poll will last 3 days or 72 hours. I will abstain from voting. Whoever receives the most public votes will receive an additional 1 point to their total. Judges will also vote on who had the better song list but they will do so via pm. This will be a separate vote and the winner will receive an additional 1 point.
If there is a tie, the overall amount of votes for Anonymous GM and Roxie Daggers will be used to determine the winner. The public votes will not be factored in this, just the judges' votes for songs. If there is a tie after the match-ups have been scored, the total votes have been added up, the public vote poll victor receives their additional 1 point, and the Judge's vote winner receives their additional 1 point, then we will go into sudden death. Good luck to ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers! If you or the Judges have any questions, please let me know.

I'm excited to go to the finals! In a way, Allison Reynolds and I are teamed up after all haha.
Our team was supposed to be called Daggers-Anonymous or Fistbumpgirl (see above image provided by Roxie herself). :] Strong run through the game fw91, your last set was probably some of the best set of songs I've seen to end a run in this contest with. stinger, I'm not sure if I've already gave you a proper send off to your run, but same comment to you too. Heck Stinger, you *won the round* right before you were sent to the sing off, I love your taste in music - we have the same folksy musical interests. More comments about the contest that I've been meaning to say for a while, to come soon in a different post, when I have more time.

You're awesome, fw91. I'm sort of sad to see this particular contest coming to an end. I feel like I wish there were more rounds to share more music and learn some. KingTyger has done such a great job and toward the end, all of the judges and contestants have been equally as timely. Everything in this game, from the fun little comments we make with each other like this, the judges feedback, the story Tyger made, (and of course the music!) will make me miss this super game. Also, enough of the nice stuff... ewww. Let's be competitive ---- it's more fun that way! Roxie dear, bring it. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I'm joking around of course. I've already reached my goal of surviving to the Top 3 and playing the most rounds as I possibly can, so I'm happy as is. I actually hoped new blood in this game such as yourself, Roxie, can pull through and win this fair and square. It would probably close this season off nicely.
I won't be backing down of course, because that would be SO Anti-climatic! I'll definitely be bringing it as I usually do, to make sure that your win would be well deserved (fair and square with the judging and I hope the judges feel the same way). Good luck!

First off, congratulations to everybody who has played thus far, and especially you, fw91. I haven't chimed in with my thoughts as much as I would've liked, but you've all played a fantastic game so far and I can't wait to see this finale. Anonymous and Roxie, good luck to you both! Let's do this thing.

ANONYMOUS GM and Roxie Daggers, feel free to take your time, ask me whatever questions you have, send me additional picks as you are working them out, etc.
Take your time; as this is the Finale, you shouldn't be rushed. Now is the time to pick the 8 songs, given the categories and the banned artist list, that you feel best represent you and your performance in this, the 8th Season of FAN Idol.
