I remembered I actually still have the comic book adaptation of the movie that was done in the style of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon. It followed the movie pretty closely but differed in others and it included quite a bit of the unused scenes. Wish those scenes would finally surface.

Love it and quote it. Only thing I never understood was the Ghost on the uniform patches and on the side of Ecto-1, had the "Two" fingers held up. Were they saying "this is our second chance?" Was it some sort of fourth wall breaking "we know this is a sequel" thing?

Was it some sort of fourth wall breaking "we know this is a sequel" thing? It was psychological ghost warfare. The Ghostbusters would drive up to a building and the ghosts would think "Hey, these guys aren't so bad. Look, one of our ghost brothers are in their logo and he's flashing the Peace Sign! Let's go have a beer with these nice dudes!" Then ZAP and in the trap they go. Quite genius really.

I always crack up when I see that scene in the beginning, where the crazy woman talks about how the alien bought her a drink

I saw that before.
If we ever get a GB2 Special Edition, think there might be a recut done editing some of the deleted footage back in? Could be cool to see the possessed Ray subplot added back in and also Louis trying to capture Slimer.

I always liked the GB2 logo a lot, kinda wish it was used more.

It doubles as a peace of victory sign so it allowed them to break the 4th wall without breaking it if that makes any sense.

It can be interpreted that way as well.

They also took liberties with MotU comic adaption , for example it was drawn like the toon series....CG looked like the toon castle & a scene with a US flag & that Eternia is several 100 yrs in the future compared to Earth.

Did the same publisher make the MOTU movie comic?

I remember having a little book made for kids of the movie as well. Large photos from the movie and basically just hits all major plot points, so maybe 20 pages long.

Didn't the comic book kill off the mayor's assistant (Kurt Fuller, aka the bad guy from No Holds Barred) at some point toward the end? (Yet in the movie he's alive during the credits) They also took liberties with MotU comic adaption , for example it was drawn like the toon series....CG looked like the toon castle & a scene with a US flag & that Eternia is several 100 yrs in the future compared to Earth. Did the same publisher make the MOTU movie comic? Nope. Marvel, IIRC, did the MOTU movie comic. A company called NOW Comics (which did a bunch of GB comics during the late '80s/early '90s) did GB2. Thing about those old comic book adaptations is that the comic writers/artists were moreorless only given a basic plot of the movie. So how people look and the specifics of the story were usually always different from what ended up on the big screen. I mean, if a movie decided to reshoot the ending last minute....that won't be in the comic. I think that's why there are so few adaptations anymore, and comic publishers tend to just do prequel stories - they can control all the content and avoid the miscommunications of old.

Anybody else here make it a tradition to watch GB2 on New Year's Eve? I always watch both every NYE, always a great way to end the year.

I love GBII Both movies need good Blu Ray releases I've held off getting the first one on the format since 2014 is the 30th and 25th anniversary for both respectively, and I'm sure some commerative release will be done.
