They've got a three-pronged attack right now from what I can see: UFC, soccer, and highlights.
Highlights: They're going to do Sportscenter better than Sportscenter. I wouldn't mind that, but it's unneccesary. ESPN went to the 'talking heads' approach because it draws in viewers. Highlights don't, because I can go watch the highlights of any game I want (and none of the games I don't want) online at any time. They'll win internet points and kudos, but not viewers.
UFC: Not MMA as a whole; just UFC. Not to say that UFC is worthless by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't know if they're strong enough anymore to carry an entire network.
Soccer: They've got the World Cup... starting in 2018. They've got the Womens' World Cup in 2015, but if the US isn't playing, the US isn't watching. They've got Champions League... but no Premiere League for at least three years.
They've got some good stuff, but I don't know if it's anywhere close to being enough to carry a single national sports network, much less two of them.

At the very least, you guys in the US will enjoy Jay & Dan. shh... maybe it'll fail and then we can have them back.

Holy crap this show is clunky. Do they really need 5 hosts and a social media girl for one sports talk show?
And that segment "Hello, My Name Is..." is just flat out bad.
I think the biggest problem with Fox Sports 1 as a whole right now is that they went out and signed everyone they could get their hands on with no plans on what to do with them. Hence why every show has at least 5 people onscreen at all times.
Also, it's ironic that this show is called "Crowd Goes Wild", because this is one of the least enthusiastic crowds I've ever heard. And for good reason. The show is the opening banter from Regis and Kelly for an hour.
....They've done two segments on Regis and a horse named Regis.

Supposedly Whitlock's show was "too serious" for the FOX direction. They want everything light & "fun", like FOX NFL Sunday.

Whitlock is immediate PTFB for me, no matter the platform.

Fox Sports 1 is down to 81,000 viewers a day, compared to 2.26 million for ESPN.

About the only thing I watch on there is Fox Sports Live (though that will change since college football has started), and I like it way more than Sportscenter. Maybe it's the fact that ESPN has to show it 24 hours a day but I got so sick of Sportscenter. Plus they are known to run stories into the ground. Not saying Fox Sports Live won't start doing that but for now, it's s nice to have something different. The only gripe I have is when they include Clay Travis on their panel. I do not care for him.

FS1 is gonna take time. Don't they have a tonne of MLB and NASCAR shifting over to there in 2014 so it's not just UFC and Onrait and O'Toole carrying them?

I gave it a shot as documented in earlier posts, but I've yet to see anything on this channel that's going to work for me. Crowd Goes Wild is terrible, Fox Sports Live has too much going on, and these Jay & Dan guys that I'm supposed to love? So far they've pretty much been known for screaming the game advertisements and little else.
If this channel fails, it won't be a shock to me at all.

I want Fox Sports 1 to succeed because I hate what ESPN has become. I already like it a helluva lot more than the NBC Sports Network and the CBS Sports Network.
I think if they can get Ring of Honor or some other wrestling promotion to air a weekly show it will help bring in some consistent viewers.

One thing that will help them gain viewers is to cater to their audience and try to carry that over. For example (and most of this is taken from what John Pollack said on the Pollack & Bauer podcast), on the night of the changeover they aired the live UFC card, followed by Fox Sports Live, on which they went right into what happened in sports that day, and the falloff in viewers was huge. I agree with Pollack, that they need to treat UFC like ESPN treats the NFL or NBA during their seasons. When an event airs on their network, have FSL on after, but lead with the UFC event, and throughout the show, throw to the live post-show press conference, or land some interviews with the fighters. I know, it sound like copying SportsCenter and ESPN, but then you could get some of those viewers to stay and get familiar with your programming. Follow up on this with other live events, like when they get NASCAR and MLB in 2014.
The important thing to remember is what some posters said already: this won't be an instant success and they need to be patient.

If something should happen with their current network, FS1 should make a bid for TNA. Return of the Fox Box!

I wish I had this network since I love UFC but DISH has it on a higher package than the basic one that I have.
