Booker T, Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell were all on an episode of Charmed in 2000. One of the first lines in the episode? "She's back and better than ever" (This later would be Eric Bischoff's WWE theme). When Bagwell is wrestling with a wannabe demon, he mocks him by saying "DO YOU WANT YOUR MOMMY?", this is either an increddible coincidence or the WCW guys told the writers about Buff and his Mum. Also, Scott Steiner cuts a short very Steiner-esque promo.

there are also a few boy meets world episodes with vader, playing regular character frankie stechino's father. in one of vader's episodes, he wrestles jake roberts, with the winner "going to madison square garden, to face shawn michaels, for the belt." vader of course wins with cory and shawn's help. brother love is there, too. in a later episode, mick foley, in character as mankind, appears to referee a match between the boys and girls on the show. the girls win.

The Emma picture has me wondering, that how many young stars of today who met superstars like this as kids, I wonder if any stars were ever assholes to them/fans and they have met them since. Anyone heard any stories? The one I always think of is AJ meeting Lita as a kid at a signing for WMXX(?) and then proceeding to marry her ex boyfriend 10 years later This was during the 2001 invasion I was recently watching a smackdown where they showed this during a video of lita's wwf New York appearance promoting her dvd.

Way back on page 22 of this thread, there was a video posted of Shawn Michaels' "last match ever" against Venom that took place in-between his WWF departure after Wrestlemania 14 and his comeback in 2002. While moving into a new apartment, I found this. This is the match lineup that was given out at that show. Notable names here other than Shawn include Venom, better known as Paul Diamond, Spanky (Brian Kendrick) and The American Dragon (Daniel Bryan in a mask, which he lost here) as tag team champions, Lance Cade, and Michael Shane, who later became Matt Bentley and was champion in the early TV days of TNA's X-division. I was there! It was at Far West Rodeo, now known as Cowboys Dance Hall. Used to go to the matches all the time.

Apparently Jerry Lawler wrestled Terry Funk in Yet Another Terry Funk Retirement Match on 10/24. He also did this.

While reading an old WON to prep for an article, I stumbled upon my new third circle of wrestling hell:
In July of 1996 the WWF crew was delayed from making it to a house show. To stall for time Duke "The Dumpster" Drose and Aldo Montoya worked against each other for FORTY FIVE MINUTES.

He did work SummerSlam that year. I think it was his debut match if I recall. Well as I learned from the post at the top of this page he actually debuted in April. It's so ingrained in my head that he debuted toward the end of 95 that when I read that I thought it had to be wrong but a quick search confirmed it. Here's his debut, 30th April '95. Strange also hearing JR commentating with Gorilla, that couldn't have happened too often (although I'm probably wrong again ). Edit: Huh, check out the finisher! I stopped paying attention and missed the finish and went back to watch it just to see what his first Pedigree was like but nope. Rko out of nowhere in that one

Satoru Sayama, the original Tiger Mask had three MMA exhibition fights in 1995. Here is footage from the first one:
He also had a kickboxing fight in 1977, which he lost to Marc Costello. Costello had a 10 year career as a competitor and currently trains MMA fighters in kickboxing out of Washington state.

But Terry, why retire now? Why not 20 years ago? Reminds me of his ECW run, especially his feud with Raven. Funk's goal is to win the world championship one more time because every dog has his day. This took place in 1997 and he won the belt nearly 30 years to the date he lost the NWA world title in 1977 to Bulldog Bob Brown. Terry wanted to make his father, Dory Sr. (who had just passed away around that time) proud. This led to Raven's epic promo about the abuse he endured at the hands of his father and how much he hates him. Say what you want about ECW, they peaked in 1997 and were definitely on the level of the other 2 for a very brief period of time.

Sorry, but Funk lost the NWA World Title to Harley Race.

Hmm. But I looked up the NWA records of the time and around the time of Barely Legal, no mention of Harley Race. Either way, you're probably right.
Point being, he lost the title 20 years prior to 1997 and it was his goal to get it back, even if not the same title.

Does any footage exist of any of Bruno Sammartino's apparently multiple attempts to take the IC Title off the Honky Tonk Man in 1987? Because I have to see that, for the pure absurdity of those two in the same ring.
