What belt is Hogan wearing? I can't find on Wikipedia what belt he held at this time. That is the WWF Championship that he defeated the Iton Sheik for. Really? The dates match up, but isn't it odd that McMahon would let his champion appear with the belt in another country like that?

Someone with a better knowledge of the era ( Joe Neglia) may be able to help answer it better, but I believe McMahon had a working relationship with Inoki at the time. I think Inoki won a Battle Royal at MSG for one of the MTV Specials (Brawl to End It All?)

McMahon was still sending his guys to Japan for tours during this time, with Hogan doing a lot of matches there (mostly tag team stuff).

It's easy to forget in this era of well honed production and (not a criticism) Kevin Dunn formula production, just how many things Vince threw at the wall to see if they stuck to help the expansion.
I mean, it was unthinkable a few years back they would be hiring top indy and Japanese guys, acknowledging histories and working with other promotions.

I got the "WWE Unreleased: Never Before Seen Matches 1986-1995" DVD set, and noticed a few matches that could qualify for this thread. The one that probably sticks out the most to me is Papa Shango and Kamala vs. Bret Hart and the Ultimate Warrior - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGYS0jhKx_A

According to the Four Horsemen timeline book, Kendall Windham was a member in January 1989. For a week. Then he just up and left.
I have to find this promo.

Not sure how interesting this would be to most but I just found a match in a youtube black hole that blew my mind. Ray Rowe vs Matt Morgan vs Corey Graves vs EC3 from 2007

So I was playing around on youtube and came across a cage match between Randy Savage and Jerry Lawler in Memphis. No, not the one your thinking of. This one was from 1993. And the post-match featured probably one of the most unexpected reunions I could've thought of for the time. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}And I gotta hand it to Lawler for his selling of Sherri's attack at the end there. He made her look like a world beater who could easily take most of the male roster in a fight.

Bob Backlund held titles in Genichiru Tenryu's WAR promotion, which is nifty enough, but he was in six man matches with some... eclectic choices. One team: Bob Backlund, Jimmy Snuka, and Mil Mascaras. Another: Bob Backlund, Scott Putzki, and the Warlord.
I'm not sure which team is more amusing.

SNL did a "Tuesday Night Titans" skit with Alex Karras as Lou Albano, Billy Crystal as a midget and Rich Hall as Vince.

I was reading through some WWF House Show results from 1988 and a match from 2/18/88 caught my eye.
Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Slick (sub. for the One Man Gang)
I don't know why the One Man Gang missed the show or why they had Slick, of all people replace him.

If OMG no-showing was a very last minute thing, they might have had nobody else backstage with nothing else to do. Although if that was the case it is kinda weird they didn't just ask someone to pull double duty. What's also weird is that that's the only match on the card where the face won (unless Dan Spivey was supposed to be a face). Kind of a downer for the show. You'd think an untelevised house show in a small market like Sheboygan would be the perfect place to put over some babyfaces and send the fans home happy.

OMG didn't miss any other shows around that time. I didn't really notice the high # of heel victories on that show until you mentioned it.

Is there a reason not to do a house show is Sheboygan? It's not like they ran PPV there or anything. It was obviously the B-show circuit. The A-show that night was in the Meadowlands headlined by Hogan vs. The Honky Tonk Man.

Like, there's not much between Green Bay and Milwaukee down that side of the state.
