He was phoning it in harder than ET. It's especially egregious considering how he's putting on really good matches in WWE right now. Exactly. He was a phony collecting an easy fat paycheck. Unless he moved merchandise as good as Jeff Im not sure why management didn't do something about it earlier, like made him a jobber or something.

Nobody commented on the notion that TNA booked him as a guy who clearly was becoming washed up and choking away matches, as if to show he didn't have it anymore. Who on earth would be motivated with storylines like that?
I think him going back to WWE has been a bigger blow to TNA than many here would like to admit. It opened the floodgates of all the various departures from TNA, and instead of him cashing in the X title they did the whole Sabin push that went over like a fart in church.
The hilarity to me is that TNA still hawks his action figure on Impact. Take a look at that ad...it has RVD (back in WWE), Crimson (released), Angle (rehab), and maybe Tessmacher (who was a face in that toy).

The guy was World Champ, then rarely lost cleanly until just a couple of months before his contract was up. Plus, he was phoning it in well before TNA booked anything that could've made him look bad. He did get a bit better during his X-Division belt run (even though nobody wound up benefiting from him holding the belt in the long run), but I think his best moment in TNA was his debut getting pummeled by Sting.

I liked it until it became painfully obvious that he was just there to collect a paycheck.

Nobody commented on the notion that TNA booked him as a guy who clearly was becoming washed up and choking away matches, as if to show he didn't have it anymore. Who on earth would be motivated with storylines like that? - Triple H feuded with guys like Henry Godwin (even jobbed in a Hog Pen Match), and Duke "The Dumpster" Droese and was still motivated. He took the brunt of the fallout from the Curtain Call, and was still motivated. - CM Punk was losing left and right to Rey Mysterio and Big Show, and was still motivated. - Rey Mysterio couldn't get beyond the mid card in WCW, yet was still motivated. His first run with the World Title in WWE saw him jobbing to Great Khali, yet he was still motivated. Hell, he and Eddie Guerrero feuded over custody of Rey's son, and both guys were still motivated. - Daniel Bryan lost a lot after winning Money in the Bank, yet was still motivated. - Chris Jericho in WCW still busted his ass, despite not great booking. Hell in WWE when he was stuck in the mid card, he still was motivated. - Kane, just Kane. - Chris Masters went from possible future main eventer to being buried by DX, and feuding with Super Crazy (while it did lead to some damn good matches, Crazy wasn't high on the totem pole), yet he was still motivated. A bad storyline isn't a great excuse for RVD.

This redeems a lot of it. Yes, I know this is just reusing a spot from WCW, but it was still hilarious. Bwahaha... "The icon Sting, wearing a Sting mask"

His whole run was a disaster. Pretty much from moment one he was booked to torpedo AJ and became a world champion with no build. Then he suddenly dropped the belt, bumbled around, and stopped giving a shit. It did way more harm than good and wasn't worth the money they paid him.
TL;DR: RDV.
