Gus exposed some weaknesses in Jones's game, namely Jones needs to improve his boxing skills. He's got great elbows and feet to be sure but his punching isn't nearly as close. Personally, I think that Jones should probably try and do some boxing training with Freddie Roach, same as GSP does. Jones being able to use his crazy reach like a proper boxer would be a matchup nightmare for most LHW guys.

I would be legitimately surprised if Gustafsson doesn't have some sort of a concussion. I mean...all those kicks and THAT elbow.

Props to Gustafsson that guy is a f***ing warrior for taking it to Jones and making him look human. But methinks this fight should be a wake up call for Jones and Greg Jackson. Either that or Gustafsson just matches up well against him. Also lets remember Jones had a badly broken toe in the Sonnen fight and that was what, three to four months ago. He definitely had to take time off training for that. Nonetheless, I would like to see a rematch. Gustafsson needs to work on his conditioning and then we can see if this was a fluke. Well if Jones gets passed Glover (which I think he will) then yeah Gustafasson rematch would be interesting.

How in the blue hell was that scored 49-46 by ANY judge? I had rounds 1-3 for Gus, and 4-5 for Bones. It was a close fight, not nearly that lopsided.
I call shenanigans.

I suspect Gustafsson will be out for a little while so who's next for him? Phil Davis I think would be an ideal match-up but Davis was working with him to train for Jones.

Gus made JJ look vincible, but came up short.
I hate dude personally. But if you don't buy his skill at this point, you're being naive.
Bones is real. He'll have that strap until somebody shows up ready to be a champion.

I just watched the fight in full. I had it 49-46 Jones with him winning 2-5. He was landing leg kicks that the camera wasn't showing that well and seemed to be landing better. The 1st was clearly the Swede's and the 2nd and 5th were clearly Jones'. The 3rd and 4th were close in completely different ways. IMO, Jones stole the 4th round in the last 40 seconds with that spinning elbow and the ensuing barrage. The 3rd I went with Jones because of the dreaded "Octagon Control".
So scoring it 49-46 doesn't seem as insane as originally thought. I think that so many people saw Gustaffson's early barrage and wanted him to win badly and scored it in their heads for him. You could make a case for 48-47.
One of the 48-47 judges had Gustaffson winning the first two and Jones the final three, so it shows that point-of-view can really alter the perception of a fight. Also, I feel that many people are heavily influenced by Rogan and go with his spur-of-the-moment thoughts. After one round he kept on saying how Jones was poked in the eye and the ref missed it, but the replay showed twice he was wrong, yet he still insisted there was an eye poke because he loves to rant about eye pokes.
There's a big difference between scoring the entire fight and scoring it round by round with a 10-point-must system. If you score it like a PRIDE fight, it's a lot closer.

Now talk is going around, partially thanks to Dana White's own comments afterwards, that Texiera may have to wait for his shot until a rematch occurs. Personally, I'd rather Jones heal up, face Tex, and then face a healed-up (and hopefully ready for five rounds) Gustafsson. Maybe have Gustafsson face Chael Sonnen or Lyoto Machida in the meantime.
