Sorry to double post, but here are the teams for this year's Tag League Teams look good for the most part. Wish it was Devitt/Anderson, but still looks good.

Gonna go with The Bucks and Nakamura/Ishii for their respective tag league wins. Really not sure about the Jr. League, so I fully expect to be wrong.

I would make a case for GBH (Makabe and Honma) winning the tag league and then the titles and feuding next year with KES and TenKoji (and Muscle Orchestra (Nakanishi & Strongman) if Strongman starts touring with New Japan again). Especially since Makabe is totally treading water right now.
What I am surprised at is the total lack of Karl Anderson. Can't they give him a random gaijin to be his tag partner? Also Nagata, but that one will be in NOAH's Global League just a couple of weeks prior and probably will want to train with Sakuraba for a bit before facing the Gracies.

I don't want to go off topic but this kind of relates.
I assume most of you here follow NJPW pretty closely so out of curiosity did any of you happen to know that four New Japan talents (Gedo, Liger, Tenzan and Watanabe) were/are touring Texas this weekend?
The reason I ask is because I'm an NWA fan and they've flown these four guys in and got a pretty small crowd. I'm basically trying to figure out if it's because no American NJPW fans knew about it or just a complete lack of interest

I think this is just part of the deal that's been involving Rob Conway defending the NWA heavyweight title in New Japan. He defends over there, NWA sometimes gets New Japan talent at their shows. That and I think the Texas show is being ran by Funaki, who has close ties with a lot of guys in New Japan, so it can be seen as a favor to him.
Also, I'm guessing the reason Anderson isn't in the tag league is because of his up coming title shot against Okada. That or he has other plans (possible U.S. dates, other New Japan feud, etc..)

Also, I'm guessing the reason Anderson isn't in the tag league is because of his up coming title shot against Okada. That has no bearing whatsoever. Okada is in the tag league as well, teaming with YOSHI HASHI That or he has other plans (possible U.S. dates, other New Japan feud, etc..) The US dates are more of a probable cause. Now that I think of it, he may also have to renew his visa. In New Japan feuds don't really bear any weight when it comes to tournament participation.

I remember someone here posted about those shows about a month ago and that was pretty much the only time I saw them mentioned outside of NWA websites. But at the same times, NJPW didn't exactly set the world on fire with their US tour a few years back and those shows had bigger Japanese names, bigger American names and were in the northeast.

Man, I know Okada doesn't care about the Tag League, but seriously, Yoshi-Hashi? Again?

Man, I know Okada doesn't care about the Tag League, but seriously, Yoshi-Hashi? Again? I think the reason Okada chose Yoshi-Hashi last year was because Okada and Nakamura pretty much said it would be too easy if they teamed together so they went with Yoshi and I believe Iishi accordingly. I'm guessing the same logic applies this year. Its like Tanahashi being able to choose anyone he wants and coming up with Captain New Japan. Though I do wonder what Yoshi-Hashi has to do at this point to move up at all on the card. I think part of his problem is that he's in perhaps the most loaded stable talent wise ever, and someone's got to be on the bottom rung. Kazuchika Okada Shinsuke Nakamura Masato Tanaka (when he's not busy in Zero-1) Toru Yano Yujiro Takahashi Tomohiro Iishi Jado Gedo Takashi Iizuka Whatever junior heavyweight gaijin is aligned with Chaos (think its been Brian Kendrick as of late) Yoshi-Hashi If Chaos broke up or he joined another stable, Yoshi-Hashi might have a shot to stick out or move up or do something of note.

Its like Tanahashi being able to choose anyone he wants and coming up with Captain New Japan. In which he proceeds to hilariously lose every single match due to New Japan's resident red-white-and-yellow liability. I don't want to go off topic but this kind of relates. I'm basically trying to figure out if it's because no American NJPW fans knew about it or just a complete lack of interest Likely also has to do with the fact that, aside from Liger and maybe Tenzan, that particular group doesn't scream ticket sales to typical American fans going to an NWA show.

I do feel like even though the stable serves a great purpose, it's near the end of its shelf life. You could do either an Okada/Nakamura split or an A team/B team split. I'd prefer the second option with Jado/Gedo going with the A squad to take falls. You could have a 10-man with Okada/Nakamura/Ishii/Jado/Gedo versus Yano/Tanaka/Iizuka/Takahashi/Yoshi-Hashi. But man, CHAOS is awesome. You have Okada and Nakamura who are the stars. Then you have Ishii who is the muscle and somewhere between the two levels. Tanaka is also in that space between and comes around when he wants to. The B level has Takahashi the little shit, Yano the slimeball, Iizuka the lunatic and Yoshi-Hashi the loser. The glue is Jado and Gedo who are grooming Okada, let Nakamura be the weird bastard he is and keep the assorted collection of weirdos and miscreants together along with the foreigners who come on like Kozlov and Romero. As far as Tanahashi and Captain, I think it adds a human quality to Tanahashi's character. Yes Captain sucks and loses all the time, but he's loyal and is always there to help Tanahashi out.

That's actually a good way of looking at Tana teaming with Captain.
