I'm somewhat the opposite on that actually. I can see Goto getting a reign somewhere down the line in a few years, much like Nakanishi got his thank you reign in 2009 when he beat Tana. Goto was so wasted in 2011 when he came back from his last excursion. He just screamed out Hashimoto mk2.
Shibata however is really questionable. He's one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster for sure, but he's still tainted by the decision to jump ship and start Big Mouth Loud (which could have been an amazing promotion), and then wrestle for NOAH and then move into MMA. This is at a time when New Japan was not doing very well, but at the same time, Nakamura was loyal and didn't jump ship, and neither did Tanahashi (when he could have jumped with Mutoh to All Japan). I'd love to see it, as Shibata is Number 2 to Nakamura for me on the current roster, but part of me really doubts it. New Japan has a long history of not letting grudges die. The UWFi feud is a perfect example of that.
Had Shibata not left however, he would arguably be the top guy, and therefore New Japan would be a much different promotion, as they built the promotion around Tana. Shibata was a 90's throwback. Shibata was also by far the most popular one of the trio around 2004/5, and had some fascinating matches with Shinsuke.
AJ I completely agree on. He's having the best two years of his career, and his style is now a perfect fit for the NJ main event scene. He's starting to become really popular as well, so a face turn, or a spin off group from Bullet Club wouldn't be out of the question. AJ becoming a legit draw just means they don't have to keep relying on Tana and Okada for the big shows, and can start using AJ to put younger guys over like Naito or Ibushi.
Anderson has deserved a main event push for some time now, and it would be fresh. He was unbelievably over as a babyface before the start of Bullet Club. When they turn on Tanahashi, the crowd is actively chanting for Anderson, because much like Devitt, he was a gaijin that was basically a home wrestler in the eyes of the fans. I was actually quite disappointed when he turned heel.
I'd really like to see El Patron in New Japan. He'd have a fantastic match with Shinsuke. Tana too.

I will never get Styles as world champion i mean he's good but i just don't see it maybe his personal beliefs and TNA ruined him for me.

Wait, 2,000 is a 10% increase. That's almost no growth?

New Japan World crashing before the main event won't exactly help increase the numbers. I don't see Okada winning back the IWGP title back anytime soon. Especially with Styles doing strong box office and surprisingly strong crowd support. Only person I see who could possibly beat him in the future is Shibata and that depends on if NJPW management can get over their grudge about him leaving them years ago. Swagsuke is another strong contender but that depends on him moving out of the IC scene and back into the heavyweight spotlight. Goto been a bridesmaid for a long ass time. If they pull the trigger when he was hot, we would be including him in the "Why they always got to back to them?" talk. Dude makes Naito seem like a main eventer how far he dropped.

Wait, 2,000 is a 10% increase. That's almost no growth? I think its more interesting that nearly 15% of the NJPW World subscribers are from outside Japan. I don't know why the service isn't catching on in Japan, but I'd imagine they've still got some room for growth in other countries.

Ain't Japan economically still in a recession or coming out of one? That might explain some things

It sounds like New Japan would have to put on more PPVs in the States if they want bigger boosts for NJPWWorld.

Suzukigun retained both sets of GHC Junior belts today as El Desperado and Taka defeated Kenoh and Hajime Ohara and Taichi retained against Taiji Ishimori.

NOAH's actually very well booked right now, and that's probably the first time you can say that since 2001/2. You can tell it's Jado booking because all the similarities of current New Japan are there. Dominant heel stable, rematches, lots of interference.
However, unlike New Japan a lot of the time, it's very logical, and MiSu is always entertaining. He's in the form of his career.
I'd love to see NOAH do well again, and help Japanese wrestling get back on track. New Japan are the only ones doing well right now. More successful companies means more cross promotion, and that's always good in Japan.

Thought I'd post this here, just incase you guys haven't seen this website before. Purolove - LINK is a fantastic website for keeping up to date with pretty much everything to do with Japanese wrestling. Although it's in German, it's very easy to understand and uses the same format as most English speaking Japanese wrestling sites. It covers both the major promotions (New Japan, NOAH, All Japan, Wrestle-1 and Dragon Gate *yuck*) as well as the smaller independents. The only promotions that won't have results posted on Purolove are the micro indies. Michinoku Pro, DDT, Big Japan and Kaientai Dojo are all there. Unfortunately there's less of the indies on there than there used to be, but that's the Japanese wrestling climate.

Been crazy busy lately, but got a chance to finally finish Invasion Attack.
Anderson's love of Maria is hilarious. Doc trying to corral him made that match much better than it was going to be, but I'm not really a fan of the ROH team. Six man tag was fun, nice build up for Nakamura vs Goto. Nakamura really loves to get under Goto's skin. Hilarious stuff and really makes me look forward to a good feud from them. Okada vs Fale was about as good as it was going to be. Styles/Ibushi - WHOA. A LOT LOT LOT going on in this match between Ibushi having the year of his life right now having amazing matches with Naka and Styles. Styles really shows why NJPW put the title on him the way they did. The dude kills it a way that makes you forget he was ever in TNA. But the whole thing with Omega at the end of the match! Oh man, that shit was some next level drama. Dude was obviously torn up. Great great stuff that really pulled me into the whole story.
