I don't think Goto's status is just because he's Shibata's friend because they were jerking him around before Shibata's return to the company. I don't know what their reasons for it are but it's seriously one of my biggest gripes with the company. I still love the matches and get excited for shows despite myself because I already know how it goes. I'm hoping that after WK10 the status quo is going to change a little bit because they'll hopefully be done telling this Okada/Tana story and gradually some people will start to matter more but I might just be a little too optimistic there.

Another thing I wanna state is what were they on when they decided for Watanabe to be renamed Evil? You heard that right, he's now going by "King of Darkness" Evil.
Couldn't they have picked a name of a Hispanic monster or something instead due to Naito being part of the group in CMLL?

After the main event (during which AJ had loud chants for him) when Tanahashi came to face Okada, there was a lack of response from crowd. The crowd did come to them few mins after that, but it's scary how it reminded me of Cena/Orton interaction on 11' Rumble.
Naito, who's arguably the no.1 heel in ANY wrestling now also had loud backing throughout the match vs Tanahashi. It looked like even the patient Japanese fans are tired of this Tana-Okada circlejerkery.

Tokyo crowds have a history of turning on Tanahashi every so often. They were cheering for Styles over him the night after WK9 and pretty much whenever you get random heel Tanahashi in a singles match it's at Sumo Hall.

I always remember Osaka crowds being the ones liable to turn on Tana. I remember in '09 when the Osaka crowd full on turned on Tana against Nakanishi in their title rematch.
I really hope berlynwright is spot on, it will force them to actually book properly again.
Amazing how Naito suddenly has the support of the crowd, when the dickheads turned on him when he got his push a couple of years ago. Yeah it was rushed, but they'd just happily accepted the nonsense that was Okada's superpush. The guy is Mutoh v2, and they just mercilessly turned on him for no reason.

Tana worked slightly heelish for much of G1 this year. But Naito was booed everywhere before this and the fans were really into him during the start. It wasn't even a split crowd. And the reaction after the main event was a bit tepid. I know the Japanese crowd are usually more reserved than others, but it's not a sort of reaction you get a from 2 top stars/draws confrontation. At the moment, only the mere hope of Nakamura/Styles get me going with them (& subscription to njpwworld), even then we all know how AJ got shafted from main event last year with random feud with Naito. We'll probably get Nakamura/Ibushi again (Ibushi is in semi-main vs CHAOS at Power Struggle), while AJ gets someone like YOSHI-HASHI probably.

That's as bad as the CAW FCW factory back in 08.

It's such a stupid name that I love it. It's so bad I couldn't have even made it up if I was being sarcastic.

Evil might be a stupid name, but it seems very Lucha to me, which is what they're going for. Honestly, Naito and Los Ingobernables is the only interesting thing New Japan is doing right now. First thing that's actually new since the formation of Bullet Club.

If they were going to call him that, he should have kept donned under a mask and later lose it in a match instead of everyone pointing out that that's Watanabe

I know people are tired of him being on top and ya'll cats make good arguments, I can't lie.
But man, Hiroshi Tanahshi is that dude. He might be my favorite wrestler right now. I feel like a kid again watching his matches and I love it.

I feel like a kid again watching his matches and I love it. New Japan has changed. It's no longer about faces, heels or building new stars. It's an endless series of rematches, fought by Tanahashi and Okada. New Japan, and its matches, has become a well-oiled machine. New Japan has changed. Women wearing Tanahashi shirts carry Tanahashi towels, wave Tanahashi fans. The charisma and sexual energy Tanahashi exudes radiates inside their bodies. Spot control. Crowd reaction control. New stars are monitored, and kept under control. New Japan has changed. The age of strong style has become the age of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada. All in the name of trading the title between Tanahashi and Okada, with AJ Styles as the go-between, preventing it from from falling into the hands of Goto or Naito. And he who controls the title, controls history. New Japan has changed. When the marquee reads Tanahashi vs Okada, New Japan... becomes routine.

This was definately a status quo event. Not much changed but I still enjoyed the matches.
Omega/Sydal was great along with Styles/Okada & Tana/Naito

Don't think it's been mentioned this but there is a big stipulation in place during NOAH's Global League.
Minoru Suzuki has stated that if he, as reigning GHC Heavyweight Champion is not defeated even once at all during the entire tournament, NOAH must dissolve permanently.
