Alright, a massive thumbs up to whomever wrote this episode solely for the outstanding joke of having Lance Hunter shooting dead Fred Dryer (aka Sgt. Rick Hunter from the '80s series, Hunter.)
That's very clever, guys. I'm impressed.

So I watched it, two things stuck out over-all - 1. The reaction to Trip's death by the rest of the team seemed kinda forced. I might buy his death would drive the team to the reactions they were having more if Trip hadn't been so inconsequential to everything that happened on the show up until then. It felt like they were mourning a red shirt. 2. {Spoiler}I'm betting Mack and Bobbi are working for Stark. Or for Maria Hill who's acting on Stark's behalf. There's no way the Avengers can't know that Coulson is still alive. He's arguably the number one terrorist in the country right now, for the Avengers not to have put the pieces together by now would just make them incompetent at this point. My guess is that Stark is having Mack and Bobbi keeping tabs on Coulson, making sure he's not stepping out of line.

{Spoiler}Having Mockingbird and Mack doing some espionage on the authority of both Tony and Hill is not out of the question. After all, Tony did hack into SHIELD to get tabs on Phase Two weapons before, so it's not like him using spies to keep an eye on the "new" SHIELD is something that's radically out of character for him.

It felt like they were mourning a red shirt. While he was definitely marginalised in season two, that's ignoring the fact that when every law enforcement agency and military branch in the country was hunting them down while Hydra was simultaneously trying to exterminate the remaining SHIELD agents he was right there with them. I'd certainly form an emotional attachment pretty quickly to people in that situation.

We, the audience, is supposed to care that they were close because they laugh and talk about stuff that happened when we weren't watching and there's just no weight at all to it.

True, but I suppose that's the problem with killing off characters so early into a show's run. There's only so much you can do to illustrate the connection.

Well that was a shock. {Spoiler}I was expecting Mack and Bobbi to be SWORD, not SHIELD. {Spoiler}Not just SHIELD... Also, two things: One, YAAAY Agent Weaver survived! Two, according to IMDb, we can expect to see Grant Ward and Agent 33 for the first time since the midseason finale. So next week is definitely looking to be must see.

{Spoiler}From the look of the next episode teaser, seems like Ward is a part of the "real" SHIELD or whatever the hell we're gonna call them.

{Spoiler}What about Grant Ward and Agent 33, tho? I can't even begin to guess what Ward's angle is, but this reformed, selfless angle is giving me the creeps. Almost feels like John Garrett toward the end of Season 1.
