I've never understood this. Beating some guy with a bat for 15 minutes in GTA is what keeps me from wantign to do it in real life. It's a great release. Lol, yep. I've always looked at videogames as an escape from reality, & when I have a lot on my mind, a brain cleanse.

It's like when Manhunt was blamed for a murder.
But here's the kicker, It was played by the victim!

Situation: A giant douche decides to cause trouble and hurt people. He is caught and tries to blame anything he can to get out of being punished. anti whatever groups claim they are right, despite the fact that they gave him the idea of using it as an excuse in the first place. And we have a winner.

Just once, I would like see this type of thing blamed on a game that features no violence or sex or anything. It would be a nice change of pace.
"Man kills three and hospitalizes seven with gunfire after stealing a truck he ran into the side of a liquor store he then robbed. He stated that the Nintendo 64 game Wave Race influenced his actions. The M.A.N.H.S.U.B. (Mothers against not having sticks up butts) have already come forward, demanding the game giant to retroactively never release the game."
Idiots.

It would explain why I have been walking around shopping malls yelling out "JASON!" for the past few years.

yeah I mean I'm pretty pissed that this guy would pull this, but aside from a few yahoos nobody really listens to anyway (outside of other yahoos) I don't think this will make much waves. if he was a 12 year old, sure, kids are stupid and impressionable and it's easy to make that argument (bullshit as it is), but he's a grown ass man and I think this kind of thing will just lead to a lot of eye-rolling instead.

Hm, I've been playing a lot of Uncharted 2 lately. Guess that means I can explore the world for treasure!

That's the issue though, because there are people in power who do believe that playing violent games make you a psychopath, because psychopaths keep blaming games for their violence. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that the idea of a "sin tax" was getting floated around.

Didnt Mass effect get blamed for a school shooting one time? not quite the same as you mentioned but absolutley ridiculous all the same.

There are many people who insist that there is rape in the GTA games, which only goes to show that these people have no clue what they're talking about.

The person the news channels originally identified as the shooter in Newtown liked mass effect on Facebook and a bunch of "concerned parents" flooded the page with how horrible the game was and it should have stated it was fantasy... Yes, seriously... The kicker of course the guy the news showed wasn't the shooter... Also if I go crazy I'm totally blaming pong.

I'm just glad he didn't blame Saints Row Because is Saints Row really that famous? Not as famous as GTA, but if video games series are going to be demonised, I'd rather my personal favourite isn't among them.
