Was it late 2008?
Or during the Mayyweather feud?

No Mercy 2008 was the debut, with him knocking out the Undertaker.
Of course, this announcement wasn't made to the live crowd who saw a zombie just get really dizzy as a match quietly dissolved.

They thing that annoys me about his punch is it has little snap to it. When he hits it, it looks like a drunk throwing a punch as opposed to some vicious blow. I guess it's because he's big...whatever. A big kick would imply the same I would assume. I just miss the Showstopper.
Oh well, it's still better than the Final Cut, for however short they tried that as a finisher.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't Sheamus the only person to kick out of it so far?

And on the subject of awful Big Show finishers... the Alley Oop.

What I hate is when he punched Dusty the other week Dusty diddn't even try and get his arms up to protect his face.
Same with everyone who takes this punch, it comes at you so slow you have plenty of time to at least attempt to protect yourself.
I have a hard time buying that someone would stand there and do nothing and wait to get punched.

My issue is that he rarely gets full extension. It's like he limp wristedly puts his fist to your cheek.

And, watching other matches where he punches people is weird now.

12yr old Stephanie McMahon back in the day told him to start using it.

I think it's been his finisher since he came out of his short retirement.
That said, every finisher that's been stated was better than that inverted Fameasser thing. That was just terrible.

I thought it began as a finisher to coincide with the KNuckelhead boxing movie. He started doing it to add legitimacy to to the film or vice versa.

My only problem with the Knockout Punch is that it really is just a punch to the jaw. I like finishers that you can hit out of nowhere, but it kinda gets to the point where he could just punch his opponent right when the bell rings since there's no setup at all for it.

And moves like the DDT are the complete opposite situation now.

I remember after he left WWE the first time that there were reports that Shane McMahon was assisting him in getting boxing trainers and supposedly he was looking into getting into boxing. And of course when he returned to WWE it was for a Mania match with Floyd Mayweather. Anyway, it was after he come back to WWE when he added the KnockOut Punch/WMD.

I thought the time he was ECW champ was when he had just come back from 'boxing training'. I think the mayweather match was built on show claiming to be a legit boxer after he had already started knocking wrestlers out in ECW.
