I fully expect a nuclear explosion in San Jose. The GM, the coaching stff and a few of the big name players have gotta be sent packing. They've been picked to go deep for the last decade or so, and have reached the conference finals only once, and if memory serves right, they were swept that year. When the biggest postseason chokers list is discussed, somehow Joe Thornton's name is usually absent. I fail to see how that can be true any more. Sexy regular season numbers, but goes ass up in the playoffs. He's the defenition of the word "choke artist" Lastly, people can complain about the call in game 6 (and I'm not saying it isn't a valid complaint) but the bottom line is that San Jose had 4 chances to put L.A away and failed to do so. Period. Joe Thornton is the Tony Romo of the NHL. As someone who dislikes Romo, it pains me to say that your comparison is unfair to Romo. Those Sharks teams had more talent during most of their playoff runs than Romo had around him. Clearly, different sports and different variables, but Dallas was never favored to win the whole thing.

Nothing against the Bruins, but as much as I want the Final Four rematch (Hawks/Kings, Bruins/Pens), to see the Habs make the conference finals for just the second time in a decade would be pretty amazing.

Am I the only one who hates advanced stats and feel like they're ruining the fun of hockey?
Colorado losing last night is VICTORY FOR ADVANCES STATS CORSI AND FENWICK yet it was 1 goal from being the other way.
I mean, are we so caught up in these stats? You know who had amazing advanced stats? New Jersey. Where are they right now? Not in the playoffs.
I mean, forget the amazing young fast flashy team that's fun to watch. Advanced stats can't make up for blown third-period leads and giving up 2 shorthanded goals.
The advanced stats geeks would probably vote Kopitar for Hart because of these stats and defense.

Rooting interests in the next round of the NHL Playoffs: Blackhawks, Penguins, Ducks, and Bruins/Habs to go seven games.

As a Sharks fan I'm sick of Joe Thornton. He's f***ing soft and disappers in the post season. Fire Doug Wilson, fire McClellan, trade Thornton, let Boyle go and stop with this dumbass experiment with Brent Burns as a forward.

Sharks NEVER should have traded Devin Setoguchi- he was there for three years and, well, could actually score big playoff goals (twice in OT).

Yeah, 1st game of the 2nd round, and it's already Double OT

Habs will be on the power play to start the 2nd Overtime..... Yeah, 1st game of the 2nd round, and it's already Double OT From the two teams who probably had the easiest time getting to the second round.

Fun fact: Back at the 05 draft the Sharks could have taken Anze Kopitar with their pick and seemingly traded up to do so. However, they shocked everybody by taking who you ask? Devin Setoguchi.

If the LA Kings fall behind 2-0 again, they won't be as lucky.
You can only go to the well so many times. I mean, Anaheim DOES have some recent Cup experience.

Sigh. A black player scores the GWG in a playoff game and that brings all the racists out.

Sigh. A black player scores the GWG in a playoff game and that brings all the racists out. Unbelievable. These people can't just leave well enough alone, can they? So the f*** what if PK is black? He's a damn good player. If you want to hate him, hate him for being that good and on the Habs(Trust me, that's a good enough excuse).

Sigh. A black player scores the GWG in a playoff game and that brings all the racists out. I loathe Subban as a rival, but admire his abilities as a player. There is NO room for any of the racist garbage spewed by a small segment of drunken, racist assholes. Sigh, a few narrow minded jackasses making all Bruins fans look like complete idiots. :/

To the Bruins' credit, they came out immediately to denounce this crap.

Sigh. A black player scores the GWG in a playoff game and that brings all the racists out. Wonder how they feel about there being six black players who have won a Stanley Cup, four of which having won with Chicago.

I'm surprised there haven't been more, but then non-white players in the NHL are rare compared to the other three major sports. Hell, Scott Gomez was the first ever Hispanic NHL player and he broke into the league in the 90's.
