Goddamn, that's amazing. Father's an absolute scumbag who doesn't deserve forgiveness, but it's amazing that he was given 5 months to live, and here he is now, still alive and (I think?) cured. Truly an inspirational story.
Although, does beg the question, where did the father get the blood? And if he wanted the child to die, why choose such a needlessly cruel and prolonged method? Gah, so much I could say about him, but I think I'll just leave it at shitty human being.

I came here to see if this happened in Florida, then when I saw St. Louis I'm like something isn't right, and the story ended happily ever after. Then the story below on the link has a kid dressed up as a condom That's because we believe in optimism around here. Except when it comes to the Rams

I am surprised at the fact the father hasn't been caught and charged with attempted murder.
I am even more surprised the son actually FORGIVEN HIM.
I am at a loss for words

I came into this thread like: But by the end I was like: Talk about a swerve for the best. To go from five years old with five months to live to 22 years old and in the best of health is just amazing. Goes to show miracles can and do happen.

I am at a loss for words When his unfathomably evil act came to light, Stewart was sentenced to life in prison and called “the worst kind of criminal” by the presiding judge. When asked why he would inject his son with the deadly virus, Stewart said he wanted to kill his son in order to avoid paying child support.

I like to think that the ghost of Freddie Mercury is watching over this kid.

AIDS stands for Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome, which means that you suffer a loss of immune response due to some other cause that is not a direct failing of the immune system itself. Historically, that was a condition that was brought on by drug usage, chemotherapy, extreme malnourishment, and select non-HIV infections. Those things still wreck the immune system, but the term is used nearly exclusively to describe HIV-induced immune deficiency. The fact that drug users wrecked their own immune systems hurt the initial way that the HIV epidemic was dealt with in this country (which was made much, much worse by Reagan's indifference because it was mostly gays in this country that was affected).

I'm not sure what bummed me out more about this story, the fact that the kid's father did that in the first place, or that I've actually heard of fathers doing worse things to their children.
Total swerve ending though. Bravo.

Horrendous, wow. I just don't understand how some people lack all natural feeling for their children. I was watching ID channel the other day and there was a story about a man who put a hit on his ex-wife and told the hitmen to call him after it was done and he'd have someone come over to check on their very young (maybe 2 years old) daughter. The hitmen called him, but he never had anyone come. The little girl starved to death in the house with her mother's corpse. I just don't get it at all. Aren't your children your one shot in this world at living forever? Shouldn't your very biology be screaming at you to protect them, if not natural empathy and love? I just. UGH. If I'm not mistaken the case you're talking about was on Unsolved Mysteries. They had convicted a mentally ill man named John Purvis of the crime, despite there being no evidence.
