Low-Ki's the number-one proponent of "athletics over story". He doesn't realize that kicking people for real and doing cool looking shit doesn't make you a good pro-wrestler, and thinks that he should get anything he wants because he's such a good athlete. Have there been any matches between him and DR? I'd like to see it, out of pure Schadenfreude. He wouldn't have been hired and employed for so long by the WWE if he worked that stiff anymore. I am a huge critic of that kind of wrestling, but unlike Richards, Low-Ki has a lot more that he's been able to bring to the table, including especially his amazing selling and his weird charisma. I am a Low-Ki mark, but it IS just true that he cleaned up his act years ago and people don't want to give him credit for it. He got screwed by the WWE (if they'd not fired him, then he'd be super high up the card in the HHH regime) and he won't go to TNA (fine, because they treat their wrestlers like shit), and his New Japan and All Japan issues were just weird and beyond his control. I think bookers understandably want to keep him on a short leash given the way he used to be, but a lot of fans keep perceiving tantrums that just aren't happening. I suspect that he could get rehired by the WWE... HHH, actually, probably respects his weird honor crap... and he does have pride issues keeping him from going back and trying to make that happen. But I see Low-Ki in a similar way that I see Sean Waltman: people who cleaned up their acts.

Depending on who you believe though Ki wasn't screwed by the WWE and he asked for his release. As for TNA, they wanted him to come on but he had his full time gig with New Japan

I don't care what 90% of this thread thinks, I really don't want Low Ki to retire. Maybe I'm a mark or a bad wrestling fan, but Low Ki has consistently entertained me over the years and I'm still upset over how WWE handled him. I've heard all the arguments about how it was his fault, whatever, Low Ki is the shit.

Oh look, Low Ki quit on another wrestling company. He's good at that.

Exactly what happened with Ki and New Japan?
It seemed like one day, everything was all hunky-dory, and the next, he was gone.

That's the story. Funny thing was, you could hear a commercial for Hitman: Absolution during the intermission of Wrestle Kingdom. So they may have sponsored the show.
