Sometimes he acts like he doesn't know how heels work.
He did the same thing a week back, when somebody posted that he didn't understand why Dixie Carter would be saying she didn't care about AJ when it was obvious that she was playing the heel and her character had already turned against him. Of course the badguy is gonna say stuff like that. You're not supposed to like what they're saying.

Triple H is a power hungry ego-maniac character! HE'S A BAD GUY. Good lord. Were people wondering if Elizabeth cheated on Macho Man with Flair back in the day too? I'm still waiting for the centerfold. That said, Jericho put together his whole Punk feud on Twitter. And HHH brokered both RVD & Jericho's recent short-term returns himself. It's all an act, guys.

So Meltzer is a super mark, then? I mean honestly, can you just imagine Triple H saying "Alright guys, RVD sucks for business, but let's bring him in and give him a cushy deal where he gets several months off at a time and doesn't work house shows". Triple H is clearly aware of the internet's opinion that he held all three of those guys back, and he played into it.

I've always thought that if Triple h hadn't married Stephanie he'd have been on the same level as Jericho, RVD and Edge. Bollocks. Triple H was being groomed for the main event well before he was with Stephanie, even in the same class as Rock and Austin. If you're trying to put Triple H in the same class as Austin and Rock then you are the one talking total bollocks. He would have been a multi time world champion, perpetually over and a big star with or without Stephanie. He wouldn't have had the entire show built around him and have the WWE try to present him as an elite superstar if he wasn't the son-in-law of the boss.

My point is that he was third string, but only behind two of the top three greatest ever. He would be leagues behind Rock and Austin but still leagues ahead of RVD, Y2J or Edge.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Its an undisputable fact. It was clear that Hunter was going to turn face out of the Two Man Power Trip, and eventually be Undisputed Champ at Wrestlemania regardless of whether he was injured or not. The only thing was that his big face turn was against Jericho, instead of Austin. While the turn pretty much failed because HHH is a much better heel than a face, Vince obviously saw him as a possible 3rd star in the vein of Austin and Rocky. Vince has only seemed to see Jericho as an excellent hand (as shown in Jericho's book and by his booking as Undisputed Champ), if he saw anything in RVD he would have given him a bigger push during the InVasion, and he never saw Edge as the top guy, only as the top heel (which is the kiss of death in a face-centric company like WWE).

Leagues ahead of those three, especially Edge is a stretch. He became top guy when Austin & Rock were gone. He absolutely did not have the appeal that Hogan, Austin, Cena, Taker, Shawn or Rock have. Jim Cornette nailed HHH when he said that he's a main event guy, but is the guy you buy the ticket to be the opponent of the top attraction. Case in point- his feud with Brock. Lesnar's the big deal, HHH is feuding with him. One last note on Edge. He's arguably Cena's greatest rival. They could have been this era's Flair & Sting if injuries didn't completely derail Edge.

Meltzer said it could easily be a work, and would be great if it's leading to Jericho and RVD coming into this angle, but he's not sure. Triple H has history of burying Jericho backstage. I'm pretty sure Jericho even talked about it in one of his books. They've never been on very friendly terms, as far as I know. And RVD was reportedly very unhappy with how he was used during his recent WWE run.

I'm pretty sure HHH was the one who told Jericho the negative backstage reaction to him when he first came to the Fed. They're definitely on good terms now, as HHH is the one who's been bringing him back the past couple years.

I thought it was something stupid to say. "Grr, it's stupid for people to like you cause they liked these people and they weren't real stars! Grr, YOU'RE NOT A REAL STAR!" Great, Trips. Truly a master promo machine.
Wouldn't be surprised if the irk-ing factor of the promo was the Ted Turner line. I can see that irritating some people.
Also, I thought it was bad for a heel to constantly call someone worthless because if they lose he's right and if they win it makes the loser look bad for not beating a worthless opponent. Then again, he is the guy behind a Booker T Wrestlemania situation.
To me, the worst part of the end segment was that it did very little to build to the actual main event and basically focused on people who aren't even involved in a match. Stone Cold Big Show for no good reason. Triple H boasting how Bryan isn't even worthy of a match with him (but, please, buy the PPV to watch him wrestle). Shawn Michaels as a referee? Don't worry about it cause he just wants to know why he's not getting to play some strip poker anymore.

"...then Triple H's promo has to be the most stupid promo in wrestling history." - Dave Meltzer, Wrestling Observer Radio Paraphased that slightly, but who could blame Jericho and RVD if they don't want to take WWE's money after what Trips said about them last night. Of course, if they show up in the next few weeks or months, it's part of the angle, but if we don't see them for a long time, then Trips just cost his company some pretty big money that those two could have brought in for short runs. What if Chris Jericho doesn't show up at WrestleMania, but Ted Turner does? Honestly I thought it was a setup to bring the three of them back in for Survivor Series. Edge in the corner, Jericho & RVD on a SS team w/ Daniel Bryan. They could also feature HHH trying to recruit Rock, Taker & Brock as his A players just to be turned down. As for Meltzer worrying about it. Heels are supposed to get heat. It would have been a better line coming from the guy (Orton) that is actually wrestling the match, but a good heel line nonetheless. I want Triple H's Survivor Series team to comprise of himself, Gallagher, Gallagher 2, and Dave Chappelle as "Black Gallagher".

he was too busy smoking pot in his basement. Come on, we all know that his special deal was made only to allow him to get hammered for 3 months straight between the working periods where he has to stay clean.
