I'm so excited for the film that it may be the most I've been excited for a Marvel Studios project, even more than The Avengers. I'm such a fan of Ed Brubaker's epic run on Captain America, and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier is my second favorite Marvel character of all time just behind Hawkeye. It looks like they're just nailing the entire tone of this thing perfectly.
The only thing I'm concerned with is minor, which is where is Hawkeye? Fury, Widow, and Hill are all present, leaving Clint as the only major S.H.I.E.L.D. character from The Avengers not in the film (not counting Coulson). I know that it was more important to introduce Falcon due to his large role in the Winter Soldier arc and his role as Steve's friend, but they'll at least need to address it. After his colossal misuse in The Avengers, I don't want him to seem less important that the others once again. Personally, I'd like it if they say that he left S.H.I.E.L.D. after the events of The Avengers and became a solo street-level hero.
Note to self: do not watch anymore WINTER SOLDIER trailers. Too much footage......must......resist.......spoilerage......
Barring the occasional TV spot that I'll accidentally see, or the clip of TWS catching the shield (set to "America! F*** YEAH!"; it's awesome), I am trying my DAMNDEST to avoid everything. I am THAT pumped.
That first action scene video sold me completely. The tone, the subtle use of CGI (ie. no mega-leaping, instead bouncing wall to wall), everything. Absolutely perfect, and am definitely going first day.
When Warner Bros. announced that the release date for Batman vs. Superman was getting pushed back to May 6th, 2016, they knew that they would be going up against a Marvel movie. Marvel had previously announced an untitled movie for that date, and now we know what Warner Bros. will be up against.
The Hollywood Reporter just broke the news that Captain America 3 will be released on May 6th, 2016. It’ll be the follow-up to Captain America: The Winter Soldier which is coming out next month and already tracking to have a huge opening weekend. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently stated that they’re keeping the date, thus they plan to compete with Batman vs. Superman.
It’ll be interesting to see if Warner Bros. moves the Batman vs. Superman release date for a second time in order to avoid direct competition with Captain America 3. While both movies will make a ton of money in the long run, the fact that they come out on the same day will negatively impact the initial opening weekend box office numbers.
Forget Lex Luthor… Batman and Superman have a new opponent on May 6th, 2016 and his name is Captain America!
