I'm loving the smack talk. I do believe that Disney won't budge on that date and WB will most likely push back Superman vs. Batman to July/August.

Seeing this next week, I'm aiming to see it again with my crush afterwards if all goes well and I enjoy it. Should be where the Phase starts stepping up. Glad to hear of it's warm critical reception (Telegraph gave it a three star rating....ol' british misery guts)

Just got back from the midnight premiere here in the UK and goddamn.
Just goddamn.
I'll post more detailed thoughts in the morning when I'm more coherent but I'll just say that this film not only blows the first Iron Man out of the water, but that it might just top Avengers for me when it's all said and done. Joss Whedon's going to have a tough task to beat this beauty of a movie.

I bought my ticket for the Thursday 8:00pm showing. Not asking for any detailed descriptions or spoilers. But how are the after credit scenes?

I'm also going tonight at 20.00.
But on a side note with the end credits, I totally called that being the plan about 6 months ago. I feel proud of my guessing abilities.

First I'll post my non-spoiler thoughts on the film and then I'll post the MAJOR spoilers down below. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is easily the best solo film that Marvel Studios has put out since the first Iron Man movie, and manages to blow that out of the water which is pretty impressive since Iron Man 1 was the gold standard for me when it came to the Marvel solo films. The Winter Soldier could easily be better than Avengers, which is equally as impressive. Everyone is on top form in this film, both on the acting side and the directing side. Chris Evans IS Captain America, and the fact that he's leaving acting after his Marvel contract expires is a damn shame because he could probably pull off any role he wanted to at this point. Scarlett Johansson is awesome as Black Widow and we get some much needed character development for her which makes her more interesting than in any previous MCU film. Even Samuel L. Jackson gets some material to sink his teeth into. For the first time I felt like I was watching Nick Fury on screen rather than Samuel L. Jackson being Samuel L. Jackson (which is still great but I digress). The Winter Soldier himself isn't in it very much but when he does he leaves an impact. The fight scenes he shares with Cap are phenomenal and I have to give all the credit in the world to the Russo brothers for managing to pull off such well filmed scenes. At no point was I ever bored with the action in this movie, in fact I wanted more of it. Easily the best action sequences in any MCU film and that includes the Avengers. Robert Redford pulls off the smug Alexander Pierce really well, and I can't really elaborate anymore on this section since that includes major spoilers but all I'll say is Redford doesn't phone it in like some people (including me) thought he would. Someone asked if GSP is good as Georges Batroc and while he was only in it for maybe 5-10 minutes all together, I liked him in his role. He's basically the prologue villain in a way but his fight scene with Cap really sets the tone for the movie to come. You can see why he was cast for this role given his MMA background. Stan Lee also makes a cameo but that's not really a spoiler at this point. I love how they keep coming up with creative ways to fit him into each Marvel film. To finish off this non-spoiler portion, Captain America: The Winter Soldier takes a look at not just the previous Phase 2 movies but the rest of the MCU movies and waves its nutsack in their faces while shooting guns up in the air. I would highly recommend it and it's one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen. Is it Dark Knight territory? Probably not but it really depends on what floats your boat. The Russo brothers set out to make this film a political thriller and they succeeded with flying colours. I can't wait for them to return for Captain America 3. Alrighty, here come the MAJOR SPOILERS. {Spoiler}{SPOILERS}The ending definitely leaves you excited for Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios said the status quo would be shaken up at the end of The Winter Soldier and they weren't kidding. By the time the credits roll, SHIELD is practically dead in the water, Nick Fury and Black Widow are on the run, and Cap and Falcon are off searching for the Winter Soldier/Bucky. It'll be very interesting to see how the impact is felt on future MCU movies.
The big twist halfway through the film (courtesy of an awesome cameo from Arnim Zola) reveals that HYDRA has managed to infiltrate SHELD successfully with Pierce as their leader and that the Helicarriers being touted as protecting the public will actually target any person that could be seen as a threat to HYDRA. Some of these targets include President Ellis, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and a one Stephen Strange that is namedropped as a fun easter egg. It's even stated that HYDRA was behind Howard Stark's death which blows the theory that Obadiah Stane was behind their deaths. It turns out that Senator Stern from Iron Man 2 is a member of HYDRA as well, which explains why he was so desperate to get the Iron Man armour off Tony Stark at the beginning of Iron Man 2.
I have no idea how this ending will affect Agents of SHIELD although there's a good chance they'll have to change the title at least. I'll be honest, during the final sequence I kept expecting Pierce to rip off his mask to reveal Red Skull so when Fury just simply shoots him it felt a little bit underwhelming in that sense, but that's just a minor quibble. Plus if you ever wanted to hear Robert Redford say "Heil HYDRA" you're in for a treat.
The post-credits scenes are pretty cool. The first one we see has Baron Von Strucker talking to his aide about various things. We see Loki's scepter in his possession, so that nugget is still lying about. Then Strucker moves onto Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch who are being kept in separate cells. Quicksilver is bouncing off the walls and Scarlet Witch looks like she's high while using her telekinesis on some blocks. Marvel Studios have managed to get around the use of the word 'Mutant' by calling the Maximoffs 'Miracles', which is definitely a more PC name than 'Mutant' at any rate. The end credits scene shows the Winter Soldier breaking into the Smithsonian to see the Captain America exhibit and sees a picture of his past life as Bucky. Does he remember his life as Bucky? Who knows?
Also the Winter Soldier asks "Who the hell is Bucky?". AWESOME!

Alrighty, I just saw it {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Marvel really love taking advantage of the real world conspiracy paranoia surrounding the New World Order don't they? They always make use of something along those lines in either their comics or in here.
Falcon kicked butt and I loved his exchange with Steve five minutes in, Steve's "check list" including "see Star Wars/Trek" got a laugh out of me.
Poor Peggy, words of wisdom one minute and then elderly mental crackdown the next...heart-wrenching scene, a shame this is her ultimate fate.
"I am so fired", rofl.
Widow in disguise was awesome
Bucky was utlized basicly for all the action porn. I'd have liked to have seen more flashbacks for him and Steve, it'd help to bridge the eras and flesh out more of the character for people who may not have seen the first Cap film. It seems they're saving up any other development for the third movie down the line.
So SHIELD is gone and Nick is underground....Agents of SHIELD is going to be a very different show if it's renewed...but if you've ever seen Torchwood, you're probably thinking, yet again, how close it will be to that show's format (original organization raised to the ground, former agent starts it right back up with a rag tag group)

In response to your spoiler Rocking Chimes: {Spoiler} Couldn't Agents of SHIELD be Coulson's resistance group, weeding out HYDRA??

In response to your spoiler Rocking Chimes: {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Couldn't Agents of SHIELD be Coulson's resistance group, weeding out HYDRA?? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I definitely think it could lead that way. I'm curious to see how it deals with the fallout for those who haven't been able to watch Winter Soldier when those new episodes air.

Saw it this morning. Our screen had a projector problem so we were all staring at a blank screen for around 15 minutes after the movie was due to start. Member of staff came in, let us all know the projector was being fixed and they would start it from where it should be, which is the trailers. Anyway, despite the problem, I frigging loved this movie so much. I would say for me personally it's above the Avengers and is my favourite Marvel movie so far. I'm sure my nephew will want to see it so i'll have an excuse to see it again!
Great action, loved the twists, loved the mid credits scene and can't wait for all the follow up.
Chris Evans really nailed it in this one.

Just seen it! F***ing loved it! The action scenes were perfect! So damn intense And The Winter Soldier is easily my number 2 favorite villain of the MCU, such a badass....on so many levels! Lived up to and surpassed the hype. The drama was really really well done in it as well. Minor Spoiler {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I marked HARD for the Danny Pudi/Abed cameo! Couldn't believe what I was seeing! I tried to contain myself, my friend doesn't watch the show so he had no reaction but I had a massive grin on my face. Just a brilliant little touch that I loved.
