not any new news but here in Northern Virginia, they mentioned rumors of Billy Corgan wanting to buy TNA on the DC101 radio station..then of course they played a Smashing Pumpkins song. But it seems TNA is finally getting that press everyone wanted them to get but its about it being up for sale It's Billy Corgan who is getting the attention though. TNA is mentioned in most of the Corgan articles in passing statements. And I wouldn't call TNA being mentioned on the Howard Stern Show as a positive for TNA because Stern buries the shit out of TNA on his program.

Yeah, the association that show has with TNA most strongly comes from that guy eric the midget who they mock, deride and basically make look like a fool. Not the best pr for TNA and before anyone says it - no any press is NOT good press.

Actually it is too soon to tell what the 365 Impact project will do for the company, but so far it's not really doing anything that revolutionary or interesting. Some amusing things - sure, but they still need to decide if it will be kayfaybe or not and guide the talent more as well. Just doing more backstage interviews and iphone vids isn't really anything revolutionary, you know? I do enjoy the house show clips though. Wouldn't mind seeing more of that kind of stuff. Watching Gail Kim work out is nice and all, but not exactly compelling content. This 365 thing has potential though. Potential for what exactly? The only thing it is so far are random blips into someone's life (i.e. the useless James Storm's kids videos) or Dixie making random announcements on street corners in Nashville. They're not even being used to further feuds or do anything that coincide with the product that they're selling. Aw James Storm's daughter is cute, Imma watch Impact b/c of it. Bull. It's a very cheap (in terms of cost) way of promoting the company, but in no tangible way thus far. How different is Dixie tweeting "A former world champion is coming to Impact in Cincinnati" than doing a video with Serg announcing the same thing? They're visual tweets. I can't even quantify how much something like this could be used to further the product. We've seen "reality" style presentations before and since the market is basically saturated with this sort of shit in almost every respect, I cannot at all seeing this having an impact (no pun intended) on a bottom line or helping to increase viewership.

We've seen "reality" style presentations before and since the market is basically saturated with this sort of shit in almost every respect, I cannot at all seeing this having an impact (no pun intended) on a bottom line or helping to increase viewership. Well, like I said in my post, they need to stop using it in this half-kayfaybe/half-"reality" method and go all out just to help promote the product. Like the clips from house shows - they could REALLY be using that more to make the house shows seem more exciting and promote them as "must-see" events to get more butts in da seats. It would help if they listed house show dates AFTER the clips though. Like I said, it has potential, but they're not really using it well (like a lot of TNA's roster over the years!). The stuff they're doing now though - like Hebner pranking his kids or whatever, blech - pointless. I guess it doesn't cost them anything to throw something up on youtube, but there is such a thing as TOO MUCH content, where people will just tune them out because they're always putting up garbage. It has potential to be used to help promote things that don't really fit into Impact - like clips from house shows or promotional events they appear at (if the turnout is good). Just using it as an ADD quasi-scripted reality show won't really help, but showing wrestlers as athletes training for a fight or something like that would add to the overall feel of the show. Though, to be honest - they could put a lot of that kind of stuff (training, preperation) on the actual show rather than a lot of the silly stuff they put on there now.

A midget on Howard Stern's freakshow mentioned TNA TNA is on the up, brothas! Actually Howard brought it up. Something along the lines of "Hey Eric, You know how you wanted to buy TNA Wrestling? Well the rumour is that Billy Corgan wants to buy the company" So when a guy making 100 million a year with a massive audience and massive appeal name drops TNA in any capacity, yes. It's kind of a big deal. You don't see him talking about WWE or ROH, do you?

The only time he mentions TNA is when he's making fun of it and/or Eric the Midget. Trust me - I hear about it EVERY time it happens. the GF loves the Stern show and it doesn't make her like TNA any more because he talks about it. its a huge joke to them.

Unless Howard described that TNA is simply traditional wrestling, viewers unfamiliar with TNA will probably think it's like those old 70s magazines nude apartment wrestling.

Only if it has any beneficial effect on the company. If he's willing to put any of that 100 million into the company or if legions of his fans tune into TNA then yes it would be a good thing for the company. If he frames his mention of them as a joke that only a freak and the guy from Smashing Pumpkins would waste their money buying such shit, then no, it's not particularly helpful.
I don't know. I don't listen to him. In any case, I doubt WWE needs him, especially PG WWE.

I also love the Stern show, only time I've ever heard him be positive about WWE is in regards to the women or when he's actively talking to someone from there. In the past 5 years TNA has gained more press from Howard then WWE has though.

That's a fair statement, though I wouldn't call it good or favorable press in the slightest and the era of "any press is good press" is long gone.

To what measurable benefit? Impossible to tell. Stern fans MAY have tuned in and given it a try. There's no proper way to tell. I know if I were a casual wrestling fan who was a massive Stern fan and I heard Eric The Midget was involved in some angle I'd tune into TNA and see what the hell was going on.

That's only useful if those one-time "let's have a look" viewers stick with the show, buy PPV's and merchandise
If they tune in once and think "lol, this is awful" and never watch again, not much good comes from that
It's one thing to get your company name out there. Quite another to provide a product that can hold their attention in the long term, which in the case of Howard Stern fans would probably involve porn stars, tits and more porn stars.

Hey, that's on TNA. If they can't hook the fan that's 100% their fault. "Lets have a look" viewers are better then no viewers though. With Howard, TNA has the chance to hook someone. Without him, they don't. And Howard isn't about porn stars and boobs so much anymore. Most of Howard's fans are people into observational humor and they're not all crazy sexed up wack jobs.

That was my point
TNA have no chance to hook someone? Don't they have a weekly TV show on a well established TV channel? Have they tried advertising? It's a good way of informing viewers that they exist.

So TV shows can only advertise during their own programming?
