This show always finds a way to top itself. I loved that they mentioned that the Red Eye comet from "Laser Light Cannon" was sent by Peridot. The main arc was kicked off in the premiere and we didn't realize it! This has got to be like the fourth time at least they've managed to turn the premise on it's head.

And honestly, one of the best Cartoons I've ever seen period.

Even better, there's still 3 more episodes to go this season. Theyre going to really have to work hard to top this one though.

I don't think it'll get any better than that for the final 3 episodes. It'll probably be "aftermath" side story-ish stuff from here on. I have no doubt they'll top it next season or sometime down the road. I remember thinking nothing could top the Giant Woman episode (and I marked for Opal's return), but tonight's was on a tier by itself. Plus Estelle (Garnet) killed it on that song.
If I had to nitpick, I thought it was kinda silly they were so afraid of Peridot specifically, and then everyone minus Garnet wasted her in pretty short order. Maybe I just perceived their dialogue in the previous week's episodes wrong, but it seemed like she was going to be a real serious threat.
EDIT-I've had time to think on it, and if you look back on prior episodes, there are a LOT of moments that tipped it off in a very subtle manner, and a few moments that take on a new meaning (Garnet's happiness over Steven's first fusion).

They were afraid of the unknown. Peridot was an unknown factor, when you're unprepared for that, you're afraid, even if she ended up to be not much of a fighter, they were going up against something they knew nothing about at the start, a threat they hadn't faced for thousands of years. Made perfect sense to me.
As for the episodes, two episodes have been pushed over to next season, the only episode left this season is Full Disclosure, the story of how Greg met Rose, so I'm expecting great things here regardless
This show will seemingly always find a way to top itself, it seems, that special was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Steven Universe is in my top 5 Animated Shows of ALL TIME now. It was getting there, that special officially put it there

Yeah, they did pretty much blatantly say it, with the song. Relationship is stable, "You're just mad because you're single", etc, along with how they greeted each other.

By the way, there's still a few more episodes of Steven left before it goes on hiatus. It'll just be back to Thursdays.

I hope the Season just ends on a good note, I thought Full Disclosure was a good one to end on, but maybe Joy Ride will be too.

I think I've listened to Stronger Than You like 15 times now. Damn, it's good. Beyond that, I get a strong feeling it'll gain traction as an empowering song for a lot of people. While not on Let It Go kind of scale, I could easily see it getting crossover appeal with some people for the same reason, that quite a lot of the song could be applied to LGBT-sorts of themes, with her defiance of Jasper. Of course, that seems rather appropriate given Ruby and Sapphire, anyway.

I don't ship any of the characters on this show, but all of its romantic undertones are really well written.

Y'all...the tiny geology nerd in me is tickled pink, even though I'm slightly annoyed that following the logic of the show you can guess key points just by knowing the properties of certain minerals. ...like Ruby and Sapphire with their relation to Garnet, especially when you consider all the little details they put in the show. And I'mma call another huge spoiler just based off those two classes of geology I took back in the day: {Spoiler}{Spoiler} If that Onion isn't Yellow Diamond or has no connection to Yellow Diamond... And I just say that only because synthetic diamonds are made using "carbon onions."

I do find it hilarious that some took that to be platonic. Yes, they kiss, hug and combine, and Garnet sings a song about literally being made of love, and it's because they're pals or something. Go figure, though at least one writer explicitly stating it's romantic love put it to rest.

I know some people have read a lot into Jasper calling Pearl a "defective Pearl", that it must mean there are more Pearls, but it's possible she meant it in the sense that Pearl defected. Amethyst was born on Earth, anyway, and Garnet's "shameless display" is what Jasper focused on when deriding her

Naw dawg, they're platonic bros just like Snake and Otacon, what with their going to live and raise a child together.

Steven and Connie have one of the best written friendship/relationships I have seen on any TV show before, and the actors knock it way out of the park, too. Truth be told, before I saw the show, I worried Connie would be kind of a drag, being sort of out of the loop, but no, she adds so much to the show.
