Watching the Robocop trailer got me thinking, where have all the fun charismatic villains gone? "Let's give the guy a hand" You know Hans Gruber, The Lord Humungus, Simon Phoenix, Bennett or the MiB Bug of this world that chew the scenery with great charisma despite being the bad guy, they all seem to have upped and left. "You asked for miracles, Theo, I give you the FBI." A great deal of films despite being good don't seem to have this kind of villain anymore that we got in the 80s and 90s, or if they do they become an anti-hero in the sequel (Such as Barbossa). Even the Bond films seem to lack the classic fun henchman foe. Who are we going to be quoting and talking about in 30 years time? Only superhero films kind of have memorable films but that is there nature once you get past the origin story of the hero. I think maybe one is Kruger from Elysium who was amusing as he hunted down Mat Damon's bland character. "It's just a flesh wound!" Thoughts?

Speaking of Alan Rickman I really dug him as Judge Turpin in the Sweeney Todd film. Also, lets not forget this guy:

There is one reason and one reason only to watch The Human Centipede: Dr. Heiter, played by Dieter Laser.
Not sure if they really count as villains, but the scientists/office guys from The Cabin in the Woods are pretty good.
Jax from Cube Zero suddenly turned a boring, generic flick into a masterpiece of ham.
Jigsaw from the Saw franchise, while not on the campy side, was also very good, although with time he became more and more a generic "I hate the World and will punish everyone" villain. But in at least the first film he was a very interesting and indeed charismatic villain.

Fun AND Charismatic Wait... I thought he was the Hero...Holding onto his title while some young thug tries to steal it away. He's a complex, noble villain. Kind of like Dr. Doom.

Gerard Butler in "Law Abiding Citizen" I still contest to this day that he was the hero in that movie. Jamie Foxx was unbearably smug and self-righteous, and outside that one poor woman who got car bombed, everyone Butler killed pretty much deserved it.
