(At one of the innumerable FAN rec rooms at the Freakin' Awesome Network Underwater Compound)
Tyger, fresh out of a meeting with FAN executives about FAN Idol Season X and an apparent lack of funding, was not looking forward to meeting the remaining 11 contestants. Far too much time has passed since the last Round and he knew the contestants were antsy.
Finding Gus Richlen is a Warrior and Hayden playing pool, the Host politely asked them what they intended to send in for
Round 23: Rebels.
Gus Richlen is a Warrior, wearing his street colors, smiled his warrior smile and responded that:
"Oh, I don't know. I was thinking about meeting up with my gang and, after laying out some punks, choosing a Los Lobos song. I have just the right one in mind..."
Tyger: Mr. Richlen, Los Lobos has already been used this Season and it's against the rules to-
Gus: I know. You know Tyger, there are many musicians I'd love to use. Musicians that would fit wonderfully into my plans.
Diana Krall.
The Avett Brothers.
(Tyger gasped. No, he can't mean...)
Hell, I might even use Arlo Guthrie again!
Hayden: (Laughing at Gus's plans, twirling a comb in his hand before running it through his slicked back hair) Ha! Gus, buddy, I was thinking about doing the same thing. First, though, I wanted to try something else out first. (Looking at the Host) Tyger, I figured that, for Round 23, it was time do something really crazy. Oh yeah. Pick an artist that could throw a monkey wrench into your plans. I bet you think you're so smart with all your rounds with their rules and limitations. Ha!!!
What ever would you do if I chose Mariah Carey for a Rebels round? I mean, wouldn't it be just like a rebel to pick a song by an artist that doesn't rebel? That would send you into a fit....
Going pale, the Host backed away from the pair, who continued to laugh and play pool. Gus knocked the 8 ball into a hole and roared, setting it back up and continuing to play, smiling at Tyger the whole time.
Reeling, the Host found Majin Brad and Mega B. Natural finishing up the front end of the Freakin Awesome Network's indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf course:
(Evidently, this is a thing)
Hiding behind a lime green and glimmering purple windmill, the Host listened in to their conversation:
Mega B. Natural took a moment to concentrate, then made his shot, putting his golf ball and knocked it off of a dancing crab. The crab's neon claw bounced the golf ball into a a pool of phosphorescent fish darting by, frenetic electronic music pulsing in the air.
Majin Brad (wearing a blindingly Orange golf cap): Great shot! Watch out for the electric eel, though. I think it'll knock your ball back to the beginning. (Setting his own orange golf ball) Orange is sure going to be mad at me for swiping his golf gear. Eh, I'm sure he'll understand.
Majin Brad took aim and sailed his golf ball clear to the other side of the hole. It bounced off of a wall resembling a coral reef and went quickly over the hole, almost falling in. It laid delicately on top of the hole.
Mega B. Natural: You know Brad, this Round is getting on my nerves a bit.
Majin Brad: I know what you mean. I didn't expect the neon lights to mess me up so much.
Mega B. Natural: No no, that's not what I mean. I mean Idol. There's just so many songs I'd love to pick but so many artists have been used already. I really don't know what to do.
Majin Brad: Well, you could always pick something like The Who's My Generation. That did really well, if I remember correctly.
Mega B. Natural:.... wasn't that used in a Past Season though? Wouldn't that be against the rules?
(Tyger nodded to himself)
Majin Brad: (taking another shot and missing the hole completely) Well, this Round's about rebels, right? Maybe he'll appreciate the irony. The guy is a wacko, after all. (Takes another shot) Oh my (Brad knocks it in with his foot), what a great shot that was, wasn't it Natural?
Mega B. Natural: (grins) That sure was a hell of a shot Brad. You know, the Who were amazing weren't they?
Majin Brad: Yes, they were.
Mega B. Natural:.... And really, has there ever been a better song written about Rebellion than "My Generation".
Majin Brad: (nodding his head) Nope, can't say there has.
Horror in his eyes, the Host sprinted back to his office. Phone calls had to made, judges had to be informed, sponsors apologized to. Why now?
When he made it back to his office, Tyger found J sitting at the Host's desk, making coffee with the Host's coffee maker, a big smile on his face....
(And J's Raj apparently)
